I went to Sol for the first time today :D

I've been playing since day 1 of alpha and finally went to Sol for the first time to see an engineer, only took me 8 weeks and 2 hours of played time since release to get around to it. Figured there wasnt much point in visiting the only place in the galaxy that I'd actually visited in real life :D

What did you think, how was Mars?

Did you spot the Tesla?

Unfortunately Sol doesn't look too great in the live build, fortunately the system has been returned to it's former glory in beta, still not as stunning as on horizons launch, however still an amazing place to visit.

One of my favourite VR holiday destinations, I'd recommend heading to Ariel once beta goes live, also watching Jupiter rise from one of the moons.

If you are a space trucker, be sure to checkout the two ports on Mercury, even before horizons, Sol has been a truckers paradise, made my first millions there.

Edit - forgot the most important thing, do a search for the config tweak to sort out non landable planet textures, the default ultra setting doesn't do Earth justice.

Congrats! I also visited Mother Gaia last week for the first time. Took my FDL for supercruise touring purposes, and glad I did. Tons of points of interest out there, plus some good RES hunting in the Jovian rings.

I’d say the most memorable part was the ice geysers on Europa. Good opportunity for material gathering too.

No the moon is not landable :/ and I was pretty bummed at Earth’s actual appearance. I’m starting to think I was encountering a glitch of some sort. Possibly failing to place the final texure layer on the planet surface, but when I got close for a look, the continents were just dull green blotches, with no distinguishing features, and the coastlines were mostly blurred.

Oddly enough Venus proved to be the most visually striking planet.

If you haven’t yet, I’m assuming you know, now it’s time to go to Hutton Orbital, right?

I didnt actually have a look around. I was keen to get back to the combat zone and blast more ships.

I hope they put that in, it would be hilarious :D

Cheers for the heads up. I'll hold off going on a proper explore until after 3.0 hits (well might be a while before I go in that case as theres a ton of stuff I'm looking forward to in 3.0 :D)

Visiting Sol was one of my first goals in the game. It's almost strange how you waited so long to go there :)

hehe yeah everyone I know went there as soon as they could. I sort of refused to do it just because everyone else seemed so keen and with billions of systems in the game to explore why go to the only one I've actually been to in RL. :D

hehe yeah I did that trip once not long after launch. Picked up a courier mission going there and didn't realize until I was in supercruise just how long a journey it was. Shrugged and just got it done :D

The first Time I went I was surprised they didn't have the new service economy station interiors for the stations orbiting Earth, two have the basic interior design, disappointing.
