Newcomer / Intro I will be helping out the new commanders tonight!!! Lets have a party!!!

It's just occurred to me that this might be an instancing problem. If you're not in the same "instance" of the system on FD's servers, you're both there, but kind of in parallel universes and won't see each other.

To be certain of being in the same instance, I think you have to use Group Play, which means you setup a group and invite others to join it. Then when you start the game, instead of Open or Solo Play, choose the middle, Group, option and you'll all be in the same instance of the system.

Rep +1 for the philanthropy. I'm gonna do something similar myself this weekend.

That would be hard to do since nobody actually stated they would show :(

Considering it was the first day for many of us noobs I think you were expecting too much by assuming that the noobs would have a clue as to how to find and navigate to the location you designated. Try to remember your first day and with that in mind be a bit more instructive regarding how to navigate to the location. I wanted to join but didn't have enough knowledge to get there.

It was already past the said time when I learned how I could get myself there, and I thought that everyone's gone already when I would get there anyway as it is a long trip for me.
I did try a longer trip later yesterday and I ended up self destructing.. Why? Run out of fuel. Lots of unexplored systems with no station in them. Well at least stations known to me. I don't know if the stations need to be found by exploring in unexplored systems as well, or was I just unlucky enough to get so many systems in a row with no stations.

Comms is another thing.. No idea how to send a message. When I hit enter and type something, always just get a reply that your message did not reach anyone or something like that.

Heard that manual is still being made. I wish they would release at least some sort of manual and update it later so we could get started a bit easier.
I did find an unofficial manual here on the forums, but no word on how to use comms.

I've had the same exact problem running out of fuel and the only systems in reach with no stations... again, I wasn't sure if they actually have no stations or if it's just because it's unexplored ?

Again, I had the same issue with comms, as I was queued up watching lots of newbies waiting for docking and thought it'd be fun to try and make contact at least - I couldn't do it... - later on I ended up finding a good youtube video describing how it works.... wish I'd known how to do it at the time !

Sorry for the double post here but I just read something in today's patch notes:
"- Allow text chat to function for any voice comms member, not just for friends"

So it apparently wasn't just people not wanting to greet us but they actually couldn't since they never received our hails :O

Thank you
Managed to chat with someone but lost him after a while, I'm guessing he used frame shift drive and went out of range.

Cool :D
Yea the way I understood it it's like this, currently: You have to be in the same system as your partner and be in the same travelling mode (eg. "normal" or supercruise) for the chat to work.
