I played Eve Online from launch for several years and enjoyed the game (not here to slag it) and the forums were always a bit rough but you could have a laugh.
I returned this week just to indulge myself and ventured on to the forums. Holy cow! It's like a black hole of negativity. People ask reasonable questions, forum vultures descend and circle whilst the hyenas set about their prey. You make a joke ... mods go for the lock.
It all feels a bit toxic there now. It's like CCP have let a stinkbomb off and everyone is offended.
