I wish we had more cockpit-in-the-back ships

The Conda felt very awkward when I flew it the first time years ago. I've become comfortable with it long ago. But that lot of ship body in the way is why I wouldn't consider it as an Explorer, range or not.

On the Corvette the long nose is a boon. It's so easy to perch ships there, right in front of the two huge guns pounding them.

The ship that should have a midship bridge is the Beluga. It is so long, yet has very fast pitch rate, you should be blacking out in that front canopy constantly.

Personally, I'd like to see more (some) ships with a mid-cockpit position.

Take the T9/T10 for example.
They both have a sort of "hunchback" profile, with the front section sloping down to the nose of the ship.
Seems like it'd be fairly easy to fit them with a "bubble canopy" located at the rear of the sloping front section.

You'd still have a good view because the canopy would be curving downward, following the slope of the front of the ship, and the overall result would be a lot like the cockpit of the Milano (from Guardians of the Galaxy).

EDIT

Now I mention it, if FDev could just come up with some kind of knock-off of the Milano, that'd be smashing. (y)

The T9 cockpit is perfect where it is in VR; the windows below you mean you can park it perfectly on the pad with visual alignment, and you really feel the heft of it as you fine-tune the position.

A near-hemispherical view forward is far more useful than only being able to see 'above' you in general, and especially in large ships with relatively slow pitch/roll. In smaller fighters, it's less of a problem as you can quickly dip the nose or do a 360 barrel roll to get a visual, and being able to look over your shoulder to track an enemy during a flyby is cool, but for anything with limited manoeuvrability I'll take a front-facing view every time.

Well, being able to sit in the back and see little bit of your ship is great for me. With front placed seat there is little difference between DBX, ASP and Cutter. Bit of console around and emptiness of space ahead. Not taking the handling differences under consideration, just pure looks and "feel". With long nose, at least, you can have an impression of flying big ship.

I also enjoy flying Adder and FDL due to right side seat - it reminds me small motor boats I used to "drive" in the past. Usually my drive seat in a car is on the left and I'm used to that. In motor boats it's usually on the right and at first felt awkward. Right seat ships remind me those boats and it's a welcome change to generic center/left seat.

...I wonder where those two corridors in Anacondas cocpit lead to... And an elevator shaft! Cant wait for legs to explore the insides of our ships...

The cocpit of Anaconda is so big, that I cant look "behind the corner" to see what is on the walls around the elevator shaft by the doors to those corridors... My VR workplace is simply to small to reach there :)
