Thanks.
As for the Topic.
FD Support Confirmed it to be Correct and Intended.
In my eyes its a joke and belittles the work of older players by causing a hyper inflation.
But its happened and beyond support confirmation i have not seen any official statements on this issue.
I've been playing since Premium Beta, as a casual player, and now have over 12 weeks of game time logged. It's taken me until 2 months ago to work my way into an Anaconda, then with participation in this CG I've doubled my cash. Do I feel slighted by the ease of earning this? No. I recognise that I'm a casual player who can't put in the 10+ hours a week of game play that have made a lot of people with a quarter of my game time into billionaires. CG's like this give casual players a chance to get some serious cash, otherwise I could play (at my current rate) for another 2 or 3 years and still be nowhere near a Cutter or Corvette.
Fortunately, that's not my real end game. I don't have an end game, but I don't feel belittled by this, or that my contributions to the game are in any way less valid.
I'm more annoyed at the fact that casual players find it harder to get engineering mods, so if I want to stay competitive now most of my playing time has to go into that rather than actually "playing", or that the whole internal logic of the Elite universe is about to get thrown out of the window by instant transfers of ships and modules across known space.
The CG in question made sense to have enormous payouts as it was geared for putting the Empire onto a war footing. When the same CG was run for the Feds a few weeks ago, it was geared up for the same monster payouts, but the player base didn't cotton on to that, so it finished without ever making it into the high paying tiers. This one got there because it attracted a lot of Imperial Pilots, with Cutters, shipping large amounts of cargo and pushing the CG up to the top tier. SO far, from what I've seen on the forums, most of the complaints about the payout in this CG seem to be coming from the players who didn't take part, and therefore missed out on the payout. They're not complaints about the logic of the payout, more along the lines of "I didn't get any". Whilst this may not be true of everyone, that certainly seems to be the majority case.
Both the Empire and the Federation will probably run similar CG's again as they prepare for war, so my advice it to keep your eyes open and be prepared to move some cargo, then maybe you can get a share of the pie, though if it comes after 2.2 it'll be over in a day as the hardcore players will get there in a 50LY Asp, insta-port their Cutter there and rack up the credits, because that's what billionaires do
