I would like a bookmark planet option in the FSS

When I'm at this screen, please can I have an option to bookmark it?

EDIT: Also please can somebody fix the bug that stops LS and K from displaying? I know this isn't the place for it but it's been mentioned before and I've got some rocks I urgently need to go and look at.

LS and K displays if you are zoomed out one step, it's annoying yes and obviously a bug.

Bookmarks on planets would be nice, but as long as many people have their bookmarks limit maxed, and many do, it's pretty pointless. You can target it, and the way I do it is thus. If I see a body with interesting stuff I am going land on I mark it in the FSS and leave the FSS to check it out. if I am going to land anyway the time spent landing and taking off before I can use the FSS to check out the rest of the bodies isn't wasted time because I already intended to do it. Of course if it's one of the moons of a gas giant I will probably scan the rest of them because that isn't hard to keep track of.

As disused in another thread I think reworking the bookmarks is going to be a major job, it was probably a cheap and nasty piece of code, like the HUD colours and the original ADS that was quickly thrown in just to get the job done without thinking about future changes, and not it's biting them in the derriere it time. I expect bookmark changes after a big update some time in the future, so don't hold your breath.

Yes, I saw that bookmark thread. I'm only just starting to use bookmarks now, but I can see the benefit of having a properly tagged, cross-referenced system that autopopulates notable features and allows for personal notes to be added. Certainly the technology for such a thing exists, it's just a question of whether it can be practically integrated into Elite.

Ok good.

What many people don't seem to understand is that the people posting about the problems that may be inherent in setting up a better bookmark system aren't argueing against having a better bookmark system, we are not anti-better bookmarks. My bookmarks have been full for almost a year, some of them are across the other side of the galaxy so it's not just a quick jaunt over to check it out and maybe keep or delete them, we probably want them as much or more than the people still repeatedly asking, however we know that FDEv have heard our requests and seen the request threads made over the last few years, we don't need to keep repeating the same thing every week. If it was easy to do it would have been done by now, or maybe FDEV don't want to increase it for reasons of their own, eother way it's not going to happen now, but probably some time in the future.
