I would love to pay FD $20 couple times a year for mission packs/quest lines

I have been struggling since the Odyssey beta ended to get on and play, I fired up the game a few times, but when i get into it I feel no drive to DO anything, so I exit out again. I want to play it, but the last couple years has been this way for me. I thought Odyssey would reignite it for me, i played the beta a decent bit, enjoyed myself fair bit, my experience was actually perfect, no bugs, no performance issues, not even little ones, and i don't give a rats ass about terrain, even the biologial mini game suited me fine, between beta and release I lost it again.

What I think I would love is some mission packs or story arcs, like "explore here" or some kind of thargoid storyline a player could follow, not a huge "kill the thargoid high queen" or whatever, that would affect that main game story, just something small.

A year or something ago I saw this little game, Starcom: Nexus, it was a small game, 40 hours to play it through all the way. Reminded me of Hard nova I played when I was a kid, and it's really nothing compared to ED but I really really loved it, it was really open ended game, but there was a story arc. I think it'd be a nice optional thing people could buy if they wanted. I have felt sometimes like the game could use some of this.

Hmm... Now that you mention it, that's about what I've paid for the game so far when I got ED and then the LEP in 2015, cosmetics not included.

I'd honestly pay them $20/month ($200/year if paying ahead) as a subscription so they could put more resources into the game. I'm not an expert in the economics of video games, but all I know is that I've paid FD like $100 total and the game was released in 2014. I have thousands of hours and I've been basically paying them $14/year... less than the cost of a trip to watch a crappy movie (yes, they're call crappy movies now... grumble grumble!).

All I can do is buy Arx so I bought 85,000 Arx just to support the game. Haven't used a single credit because all the skin packs are bad and the player outfits are even worse (IMO). And I'm just pretending that weapon skins don't exist because they look so silly.

I wish FD would find some way to capitalize on the rabid passion some of us have for space sim games.

FD's total failure to monetize a game whose players often spend hundreds, and sometimes thousands, with third parties to enhance their ED gameplay is truly amazing. I honestly wish they gave me reasons to throw money at them.

"Wow, you've spent how much to enhance your spaceship play?!? Well you're gonna love this mediocre FPS bolt-on!"

🤦‍♂️ I think what hurts most about ED is seeing it's gargantuan potential getting rolled in the mud.

Don't give companies money for doing things poorly. It only incentivizes their failures.

Or you can do it urself for free.
For example, there are dozens of new settlements which have markets. And those aren't known for Inara.
Make small ship and land each one, and click "commodities market" button while you have running program to publish data.
Everybody will say you huge thanks.
For a time I was pretty happy, years and years ago, grinding merits for power play, and inbetween that, bounty hunting and grinding reputation for a cutter (never got there). I thought for SURE thargoids releasing would bring me into the game full on, but even though I've put 100-150 hours in since they came out, all I've ever seen is a crashed thargoid ship I travelled to while unlocking an engineer. The on foot combat I found exciting, not having had played a FPS on PC in many years, after beta ended I played 5-10 hours, just flying around buying Grade 2 items, then doing a couple missions to upgrade parts (never got there though).

i find myself logging off quickly to play league of legends, and inexplicably, with regret.

It's a joke. I have 4400+ since 2019 when I started. And can't live a day without checking perfect star "sky" in the game :)
Just go try another game, your imagination is weak :D

I didn't even try PP yet :D Because no need. Just unload 700t from carrier to new Odessey settlement using 64t Dolphin and keep watching on those perfect views, think why it happened so and not another way.
Remember, all you see here has scientific explanation, it is not "designer view".

What do you mean about watching those perfect views? Are you talking about, in game scenery? The beauty, of the in game graphics? It's fake, my imagination is weak. I work out doors for a living, and travel vast distances driving to remote locations, I need no fake game scenery in my life. I'm looking to be entertained.

Read / listen about young Earth. 4 billions years ago. Just long one, something like 1 hour lecture at least. Because all those 7 mins annotations can't cover things properly.
That will explain 4 billion star systems, and only one planet with ... foilage?
