I would love to see some of these

I am a big fan of Nexus: The Jupiter Incident, especially the first part of the game where it is all about corporations fighting other corporations.
What I love most is the early space era type of capital ships with their big engines at the front of the ship for breaking. I felt the game became less interesting when the player had to use that alien ship and traveled outside of the solar system. For the purpose of this game I feel it would have been enough if he game would have taken place solely in our own solar system and if the story would have been about corporations fighting for resources and technology.

The game really succeeded in conveying that sense of the vastness of space. It gave me the same feeling as Space Odyssey 2001.

But all that aside I would love it if in ED there could be a few very isolated populated systems whose inhabitants have not developed the tech to travel outside of their system and use these types of more primitive ships.
It would be great to discover them. And perhaps they might even consider you an alien.

The first minutes of this video will show you what I am talking about:

I really enjoyed that aspect of the X series with the Terrans.

The problem with that in this game would be because of the procedural generation. If I ran into two isolated alien systems that both developed the exact same ships, it would sorta not make sense.

Now I'm sure we're gonna find a lot of funny little hiccups if we do in fact have a multi-billion star slice of space to fool around in, but isolated systems sound like they'd become really "samey" after a while of exploration.

Now if FD decided to plop one in some unexplored system somewhere, as like an "Event", I'd love to be the guy to find it.

Well, it doesn't have to be multiple systems per se.
I was thinking along the lines of a human civilization stemming from one the first generation ships that got lost end ended up far away from the current core systems. They just managed to survive. Their tech has not developed very fast, Perhaps they had a few serious throw backs and so their current space tech is primitive compared to what the federation and the empire has. They could be very active in their own star system though, have multiple colonies, etc. There might even be an in-system war going on between these colonies. etc. etc. It would be a great setting for some unique story telling.

Would be cool, I think.

Man I was gutted with Nexus 2 failed

I was not, to be honest. I expected it.
I felt they took a wrong turn, ignoring Nexus 1's strongest points, which I felt were mostly in the earlier part of the game. I have been quite active in discussions about the kickstarter's concepts.
The way it was presented it would have become a run of the mill scifi game with not bad, but nevertheless mediocre alien ship designs. It did not appeal to me at all. And apparently many felt the same as the kickstarter failed miserably.
