Elite / Frontier Ian Bell to unleash Classic Elite Free this weekend!

For the ZX fans out there, you can always try Vladimir Kladov's Elite 3:

If you load a new TRDos disk image, you can use the editor to create (or re-create) your old CMDR:

I mailed the guy and he helped me out, after I became Elite last year from a save sat in the attic from the 80s/start of the 90s.

It comes with a rich feature set of cool things - like loads of extra missions, and a new mission ever RoC/right on commander (even after you become Elite). Ships are more intelligent, hyperspace in and out in concentric circles and you can come across battles where you can join either side.

I was thinking of modding it so system stars made the display (and in-game cockit view) varying shades of red/orange/blue depending on the star type (generated from the information from the seed per planet), but I've not had time.

Anyway, great addition to the old Elite code, would love to see what happens over the coming weeks with all the Elite mania going on!

I have vague memories of a Super-Duper version of Elite on the multiprocessor BBC Master.

Anyone know the best way to get that up and running under emulation?

I still love the Speccy version though - the one with the standard font. The other font just didn't sit right with me.

Still think the amstrad cpc version of the original Elite was the first to have shaded graphics in stead of wireframes maybe I am wrong but couldnt put that game....

Can I find a changelog for this mod somewhere?

CPC one was basically ZX Spectrum port (same CPU) just with more colors. Still line 3d with hidden lines removal per object (not whole scene)

Also FPS seems to be lower than ZX one.

TBH I like ZX Spectrum most. Its clean black and white look still amazes me.
