[IC] Hoax News: Crisis in the Universal Cartographics

After the revolutionary invention of the new kind of Frame Shift Drive a couple of years ago many organizations across the human space struggle to cope with changes it has brought. We could see it on the example of Universal Cartographics that, being unable to process huge amounts of new discovery data, has been forced to introduce an automatic recognition of first discoverers. However, the institution is still under avalanche of critique and what should become one of its finest achievements might lead to its downfall. We have been able to ask for a comment one of members of the Elite Pilots Federation that had brought many charges against it to public attention:

"I, Earl Endereth Ernal, speak here as a mere Ranger - I do not represent the Elite Pilots Federation because my esteemed colleagues haven't come to any consensus regarding the matter, at least not yet. For many of us, explorers, it looks more and more like the Universal Cartographics is turning into a kind of vile bureaucracy that we so often see in the Federation: inept, impervious to critique, irresponsible. Their policies lack consistency: they credit explorers for being a First Discoverer and then for some strange reason they suddenly demand of us to surface-scan objects to be credited with a discovery, without changing their previous records. They introduce a new software to cope with amounts of data we provide, yet they cannot ensure its quality resulting in chaos among First Discoverer data lasting for almost 2 weeks. When they finally fix the issue claiming it rare although it had been common - eg. I was illegally not being credited for over 300 planets in this period and I could prove it - they refuse to update their records and reimburse us even though we have all data needed to do so.
Sadly, the affair is even more profound. We, explorers, rarely buy any data from the Universal Cartographics but conducting an investigation I've recently bought from them data about several systems and cross-referenced them with data I gathered in those systems immediately afterwards - to my consternation it turned out that the bureaucrats withheld for unknown reasons vital data in every system I checked: I didn't get from them any data about most bodies there although all these bodies had been registered in their database by other explorers before I bought the data! I suspect this shameful procedure lasts much longer than 2 weeks but it should end immediately and everybody affected should be reimbursed and apologized - no institution that wants to be perceived as honest should behave in a way that could be seen as if they rob people blind! Outrageously, they refuse to acknowledge it despite the fact that we have a huge evidence against them - they still sell vastly incomplete data misleading many people. If they continue to act in this irresponsible way I say we need to create a real competition to them as to break their effective monopoly."

Up to this point we have been refused any comment from the Universal Cartographics but it is obvious that the great crisis is brewing. We shall inform you as soon as we get any additional data about it.
