[OOC] The purpose of this thread is to allow members of the Independent Pilots Syndicate and other players to introduce their characters' story and opinion on the organization and its actions. This first post is a copy-paste of the founding call made by Commander Xeonyx on the 1st of March 3301.
Independent pilots from everywhere and every profession, I have a message for you.
For those of you who don't know me, I am an ex-imperial fighter pilot who became a slave in the wake of a failed covert operation against "Federal agitators and pirates". They were in fact an influential Federal politician and his family. My wingmen, "Skiff"and "Sander", and I refused to kill them when it became apparent that they were civilians. We lost our honour, rank, citizenship and faith in the Empire on that day. Skiff and I at least. Sander lost his life for "high-treason", as he was our wing's leader.
After a few years as slaves, we were freed by a Federal anti-slavery organisation. They put us in touch with the Pilots Federation and we were soon given a Sidewinder and a thousand credits to begin a new life. Skiff decided to head back to Imperial space but I prefered to stay in the Federation, which seemed more trustworthy to me. Of course, I was soon disappointed when the events on Panem made it clear that the Federation was as rotten to the core as the Empire. But I didn't care : I had the Pilots Federation on my side and as long as I stayed a law-abiding citizen, I could stay clear of the madness. Or so I thought.
A few days ago, I took the helm of my newly bought Imperial Clipper, imported directly from the Imperial core systems – one can never truly let his origins behind I suppose. Though the important thing is not the Clipper but what came with it. On the ship's computer there was an encrypted data packet, using an old Imperial navy key I knew. So I decrypted it. There were several audio files and a written message. Here's what it said :
The first few other files were recordings of several conversations between a representative of the politician we failed to assassinate a few years ago and a Pilots Federation employee. The representative told the PF agent that his employer was interested in the "special services" that had been discussed earlier. The agent asked for afew billions credits that were promptly provided. The services paid for comprised the "cleaning" of all the PF's databases from the name of Commander Skiff, the sabotage of his ejection and weapons systems and a real-time update on his location.
The last audio file came directly from Skiff's Cobra's black box and retraced his last moments : his interdiction by two "cops"in Vipers, the short explanation that he'll die for the crime he committed a few years ago against the politician, his surprise when his lasers refused to fire and his last words to his family as his ship's hull was ripped apart and his ejection warp malfunctioned.
This is how I lost my last friend and the faith I had in the Pilots Federation, the last organisation I thought I could trust. I wondered what to do next for quite some time but I finally found the answer.

Today, I warn you fellow Commanders : you are truly alone. Not only are you nothing more than disposable tools for the Federation or the Empire alike, you are just merchandise in the eyes of the Pilots Federation too. They will sellyour services to the various powerfull people of this galaxy and they will harvest the fruit of your hard work in your place, until you are more valuable to them dead than alive. Then you will join Skiff.
Today, I call all independent pilots. And here's what I say to them : in a world where no one stands for you, you've got to stand for yourself.
Today, I call for your help. I need you to build a syndicate that will stand for all of us, a union that will defend our own interests, a haven of peace in the storm of war. A home. A family.
Today, join the Independent Pilots Syndicate and stand for yourself.

Commander Xeonyx,
My respects and my sincere condolences. Your friend the Commander Skiff died in a tragic manner a little under a month ago. The attached files will let you understand why and how but be careful : they should never have come into your possession, and both you and I maybe in danger. Do whatever you think needs to be done with them.
A friend and a ghost.
