I often like flying through those lovely ice asteroids. They look amazing but I have never come across a resource extraction site inside an ice asteroid field. I assume that this is due to the lack of resources within them.
However, having done a little research, these 'C-type' asteroids appear to contain a lot of water which could be used to make hydrogen for rocket fuel. Other resources include organic carbon, phosphorus, and other key ingredients for fertilizer which could be used to grow food.
Considering there are many scenarios within ED where drought or famine is likely on a particular world, wouldn't it be obvious to try and mine these resources?
I just think it would add another element to the game if we could have resource extraction sites within ice asteroid fields.
