Ice asteroids. Can we make more use of them?

I often like flying through those lovely ice asteroids. They look amazing but I have never come across a resource extraction site inside an ice asteroid field. I assume that this is due to the lack of resources within them.

However, having done a little research, these 'C-type' asteroids appear to contain a lot of water which could be used to make hydrogen for rocket fuel. Other resources include organic carbon, phosphorus, and other key ingredients for fertilizer which could be used to grow food.

Considering there are many scenarios within ED where drought or famine is likely on a particular world, wouldn't it be obvious to try and mine these resources?

I just think it would add another element to the game if we could have resource extraction sites within ice asteroid fields.

Completely agree. Ice roids are exceptionally pretty!

Instead of a refinery, you could have a farmery that could grow your organic chunks into soil, fertelizer, medicines... or cows!

Yeah, something(resources of some kind) would be good, atm I only ever visit mining RES's, so it would add to the diversity.

Too bad that current trade system favors hi price goods trading only. Bulk trading of cheap goods like water is not really viable, maybe for RP purposes.
