Ice mining

Hey guys, ice mining, is that where the proffit is now ? I mine at metalic rocks (pristine) at Njikan (Njikan 4), but i noticed since horizons came out that all of the missions at Smeaton port have been demanding stuff from ice rocks, am i right ? Also does anyone know a pristine ice ring near Njikan/Nanomam/Sol ?

Nope, only thing worth mining from iceteroids is low temp. diamonds and they are *very* rare.

Your best bet is to stack a lot of missions for ice mining and hope for the best

Yes i thought as much, thanks, but any ideas for ice mining location ?

It's a shame that ices aren't valued on scales like metals. I'd be okay with diamonds being so rare if that were the case. Ice mining should have doubled or more the opportunities in the game, but instead it's more of a interesting curiosity.

i use a pristine icy ring LHS 2522 6, which i found by scouting (i think there isn't a list yet) - there are many icy rings out there, you can simply fly to some uninhabited systems to scout your own closer to sol. LHS 2522 it is quite close to nanomam, though.

ice mining is only worth it via missions, and to get some engineers stuff. i use an AspE for mission mining, so distance of that system from my base doesn't play a big role for me.

i checked 5 or 6 locations, hoping for a system combining pristine metallic + icy metallic, but didn't had any luck.

oh, sorry. i meant pristine metallic + pristine icy in the same system. no luck till now. and i don't think they can be found around the same planet, but who knows?

Try next door in Karovices. Or possibly Ross 199. It's one of them.

LFT 65 has both, but not on the same planet. The first planet is Metal Rich and Icy.
