I'd kinda like to see a bit more weapon design variety.

I'd like to see a dual and quad mount system implimented.
Dual fixed mount allows mounting of a pair of the next class down weapons, (eg: 2 class 2 guns on a class 3 mount).
Dual gimbal and turret both allow the same, but at 10% and 20% reductions in power respectively, and rail/plasma count as 2 weapons (can only mount one on the gimbal)
Quads work the same way but mount 4 weapons at 2 classes below the mounting frame (eg: 4 class 2 Multicannons on a class 4 mount)

In all cases, there would be a slight stagger to the firing of the weapons on a mount, allowing a ripple fire effect for pulse-firing weapons, and a collective "spool-up" on continuous fire weapons.
Also, missiles and mined have been omitted, but I'd like to see the larger calibers from concept art introduced

Pros= More variety in weapons, especially at higher tiers
Cons= 2 smaller weapons are more power-and-ammo-hungry than one big one, and are less effective against armour.

Dual mount would be too good. 2x Class 2 mounts > 1x Class 3 in general.

I would definitely like this. Having seen how deadly the FLD is with 4x Class 2 Burst Lasers in 1.5 I would love to switch them out for 8x Class 1 burst lasers too, hehe!

I've actually watched quite a few of them. Care to link which one mentions this?

I don't have a link but it's whichever of the recent 'On The Horizon' ones that had Sandy Sammarco on. Somebody asks him if new weapons are coming in 2.0 and he says yes, they particularly have some more ideas for Class 4-sized versions of existing things.
Now while that may not be true, Frontier's word is good enough for me that it will happen. I don't mind how long it will take.

Because BOOM!

The plasma repeater from CQC would be a nice addition and beyond that I'd love to see new weapons.

BUT.....they need to balance what is already there e.g. missiles & torps etc...

I think the new synth mechanic will allow us to create and load our own ammo on the fly which sort of solves the whole ammo issue (in theory), it will be interesting to see how that works out in practice.

I'd like to see 7-10 classes of weapons, with certain weapon types, sizes and performance specs walled off based on the ship type. That way we can have some real differentiation between ships of similar price and class. Having a 4-size fits all model doesn't scale well, as we all can see in the glut of sub- $2 million combat ships with essentially the same hard point arrangements and optimal configurations. When the only difference between them is pitch and speed, I feel like more can be done. I think roping off "military grade" weapons to dedicated combat ships and classes 7-10 (going with the example) having certain unique weapons options while being limited to big ships makes a lot of sense.

I know it's not what you meant, but I couldn't help picturing riding an Anaconda-sized class 10 nuke Dr. Strangelove style :D

Would love to see some Military-grade weapons/ships in the future. Hopefully not as useless as the Kestrel in FE2 though!
