I'd like to thank the Elite community, especially the explorers

I've had some rough moments, but in the main this is a great community and there's no way I would have successfully made the trip to Sag A without the various bits of fantastic advice from the community, especially the advice from the explorers of course. Thank you all. :)

I'm having a little holiday from Elite, swapping the risk of burning up in a stellar inferno with the risk of evisceration by Gigers Alien. ;) Then maybe some racing......I'm under no illusion that I'll be able to stay away for long! ;)

Cheers all!

Alien Isolation is a fine distraction Cdr. One which I am going to immerse myself in and no doubt poop my pants at after my own long dark lonely exped to Sag A* and those lusty neutron fields.
Good luck Cdr Ripley;)

Just had my first up close look of the Alien....new underwear please! ;)

It's genuinely poop inducing, especially when you hide under a table and the last thing you see is those teeth and those outstretched claws grabbing you from your hiding place.....*parp*

I'm <saracasm on> really looking forward to that<sarcasm off>! ;)

we were going to try it with my brother rift, but after playing it on my trip screens, i told him no thanks! Crograts on your trip Cmdr.

flipping hell the game must be awesome on a rift!! Aforementioned underwear changes galore!! ;)

Although I'm disappointed that after over a year I was seeing floating guns (plus the fact I couldn't pick any guns up!!) and when a couple of people sat in chairs they appeared 2-3 feet above the chairs!! And people moan about FD and their constant bug fixing, at least they bother!!

Alien Isolation literally feels like you've been thrown in the first, Ridley Scott Alien - which is why I adore it as much as I do :) plus it has those beautiful dark moments; path blocked by armed survivors who will kill you on sight? Drop a noisemaker in the middle of them, hide, and watch the Alien be useful for a change. Observe and eat popcorn while it finishes it's business and leaves, then proceed. Ah, good times, will probably replay at some point :)

Couldn't have put it better myself. I love the Alien franchise and love Isolation. I find those moments when an enemy you literally cannot kill and have to hide from (scared) appears and dispatches EVERYTHING just for the fun of it. This illustrates how scary/hard work it is to play the game. Especially with the lights off and headphones on.
Another pant soiling Alien Isolation moment:
I enter a room, I hear the demonic armoured thing scuttling in the roof spaces above me, the lights go out, I pop a flare for light and hide under a table thinking I'll be safe.
The music changes, I hear a thud as something falls out of the roof space. I carefully look around the table leg to take a look at the thing, it's beautifully terrifying. I see metallic teeth grinning demonically as it investigates the red flare turning its black exoskeleton a sickening blood red hue.
It suddenly snaps its head in my direction and hisses, it grabs me and the last thing I see are those teeth coming towards my face.
God, I'm sweating recalling it, it's THAT frigging scary to play.
Proper scary proper good and apologies for turning this thread into an AIsolation appreciation thing but it is an uber game.

Cheers for the heads up on tactics! Just got the blueprint for it!

Enjoy your holiday, Commander :) Hope to see you back soon :)

Cheers Raz! :)

hehe don't worry about derailing the thread I'm ok with it. :D Just no spoilers please I'm early into the game! LOL!

Just enjoy it. The AI of the alien is that good moments like that described become commonplace.
If you are playing it on Steam I advise strongly getting the mission packs (DLC). Very good.

Cheers, and congratulations on your trip to Sgr A!

I can understand the need for a bit of a break after making it all the way out there, especially if you're taking your time scanning some systems on the way. I'm thinking CQC will come as a boon to some of us explorers who are out on long missions of our own making. Though I'm not really a fan of the immersion breaking aspect of it.

Maybe when you get back, pick up a Vulture and do some hunting for a bit. I'm thinking that that's what I'll do when I make it back myself, but we'll see.

Will do, didn't realise you had to reload every damn bullet in the handgun! LOL killed by an android!

:) I'm already feeling the "pull" back!! I've got a Vulture in storage...but tbh I preferred my Asp when BHing...I know the Vulture has stronger weapons and is more manoeuvrable, but I just love the ww2 style wall of bullet death my 4 miniguns can spew out! I wish the Vulture had less powerful but MOAR weapon mounts ;) That would make it seem more of a military/combat craft in my eyes!

Then again I need 14% to get my elite exploration, that's probably around 20 million or so credits, may do a little exploring to get that before all the fun of Horizons comes out and I spend my time farting about on a rocky planetoid doing doughnuts in the Scarab! ;)
