I'd love to buy the Xmas paint jobs & upgrades - But Why..?

So I find my self wanting to buy a cool paint job for my ship.. Every time I check in, I see the adds and think that would look great on my ship. And every time I stop myself because I know I would rarely see it.

Being a vanity item it needs to be seen to appreciate it, unless your buying one just to help support the game, I don't see how buying one is justifiable. If you could save the exterior camera views or the game somehow would show your ship as it jumps to hyperspace or anytime... at least you would see it. Not to mention I've never seen anyone else out there with a custom paint job.

And it's not the price: $5.00 for a cool paint job is totally fine, And don't get me started on the cool looking ship flairs kits.. But again.. The only time I would ever see it is in the outfitting screen.

Its an easy fix by putting a camera outside a STATION ENTRANCE or LANDING PAD and showing your approach on a screen or something simple like that, Then I'd buy one.

Come on DEVs fix this so I can buy some custom stuff already.. Thanks.

So I guess the question for the forums people is, what would you like to see changed so you would buy a cool paint job.. Or is everyone but me already buying them...?

The debug camera sure is overdue for an overhaul.

Ship launched fighters make good cameras as you fly past your ship.

Well, since the Festive Countdown paint jobs are about to be withdrawn in a few hours you should either stop wondering and buy or simply forget it.

I'm flying a Cobra III, modded for speed and rigged up for really fast smuggling jobs.

It's painted black (well, graphite).

I can't see that I'm flying a black smuggling Cobra. But I know I'm flying a black smuggling Cobra.

And, frankly, it feels pretty sexy ;)

*edit*

And while typing that I drifted outside of the exclusion zone, got picked up by a bounty hunter, and almost lost my sexy black Cobra :D

For many ships this is true.

In my own fleet, I see the outside of my Cobra Mk3 and Keelback often from the SRV and SLF, though. So I do enjoy the custom paints there.

Nothing like pulling up somewhere, debug activated, favourite atmospheric music playing, admire your ship, its customisations and go faster stripes.
Screenshot! Screenshot! Screenshot!

The solution is to buy an Anaconda, and give it a glorious paint job. It has such a long nose, that you can stare at the lovely paint on your own nose all day as you fly around..

Its much the same as wearing nice clothes. You're not staring at yourself in the mirror all day (at least I hope not), but you feel good knowing that you're well dressed.

I have only bought couple skins/paint jobs. I have chrome skin for Vulture, one of the packs for imperial clipper, Christmas tree bobble head and ABC bobble head pack. I haven't Bought one since December 2015.

Why? not because i won't buy skins because i can't see them. My reason is that most if not all of the skins are boring. That may be just my opinion but Skins are too expensive for what they look, i may like one skin in pack but won't buy 5 other skins to get that one i like.

Second is that i don't see other have skins or have reasons to visit the customization window. I will take other first person game i play a lot: Rainbow six siege. First person game were you can't see your own boy but have head gear, body skins etc. In that game i see people have skins a lot because i see other players a lot. In elite its rare to see other people from so close you would see or note their skin and other customization. So you can't see how cool or fun the skins look all the time.

Also in Rainbow six siege every week there is new weekly challenge that is easy to do 10 wins with x character for example that give you one customization option, this make me go to customization window to look at it and see other customization options I can buy with in game credits or with real money. (Many skins in Rainbow six siege can be bought with credits you earn in game and some, usually the best looking skins that can only be bought with real money). This make me see the stuff i can buy and sometimes i go and buy some. Its not forcing or over advertising these skins but it encourage me to look at store every week.

Frontier is clearly new to the selling cosmetic items stuff as they don't encourage us to buy them same way as many other games like Rainbow six siege does and with pretty poor skins available it doesn't make me want to buy skins. Also buying from frontier store is bad idea. Skins should be available in game store (you can see every skin/cosmetic item in game on your ship on hangar, but couldn't take off with it without buying it), purchase should be faster and much more straight forward instead of opening frontier store on browser were i need to log in again, too much work too complicated for me to care or think about make it easy to give you money.

Every time I drive the SRV back to the ship after a successful mission, I do a tour around my lovely paintjob and if the ship has them, body kit. I even jump a little to look at the top. Always gutted if the mission is on the dark side.

Hey its a vanity item, enjoy it. Never blush when your wearing your paint and get caught up in the wire on a station, and just hope no-one is admiring your paint job!

Frontier should create a video camera which records automatically our ships in the space. And that we could view the movie only when we are in a station spaciale

I bought the Midnight Black for my new Anaconda. The reasoning was to keep the ship's nose black so it looks cooler to me in my view from cockpit. Other ships I don't see any reason at the moment (Anaconda being my largest one at the moment). Well, I bought the Midnight Black also to my Cobra, just because Cobra is my another main and it is so iconic ship it deserves a black paint job.

I purchased the skin that made my anaconda look like a flying banana.

I went off exploring and someone said having the default or a dark skin on the ship made nice looking screenshots really difficult because you couldn't really see the ship that well in the photos (dark ship in dark space).

The person was 100% spot on and I'm glad I painted mine yellow. Made screenshots simple :)

Sometimes they do have other uses and that's when I tend to buy them.
