[IDEA] Colonisation -Why and It's Process

Billions of stars, and yet little action to spread civilization (except for Explorers, you guys are brave CMDRs). So why colonisation? Colonisation will be beneficial towards contacting new life, exploring more thoroughly without worrying about fuel, and of course to expand the human race. For CMDRs, it would be a dream to establish colonies, not to mention it would be the ultimate experience for an explorer.

So, how would colonisation work in Elite: Dangerous? To begin the process of colonisation, you will need to purchase an expensive NAV Beacon (possibly around 100,000,000 CR, but is just an example for the idea), which is going to attract a hell of a lot of pirates. The NAV Beacon, however, can only be deployed once. Once deployed, the NAV Beacon will then contact independent manufacturers to create and dispatch a station to the NAV Beacon's system. In addition (OPTIONAL), it will display an orange line from A to B, including its approx time of creation and arrival. Once the station has arrived, personnel will then begin to setup the station (which may take a while. Till then, Repair, Rearm, and Refuel will be disabled). Despite the station being a colony, the Shipyard, Commodity Market and Outfitting menus will be disabled (Not sure if Commodity Prices are affected by distance, this is up to you :) ). And yeah, this could be the process of colonisation. Feel free to share your thoughts on this idea. - Rawner135

  1. Buy slaves, capture escape pods, lure tourists.
  2. Land on a vacant planet.
  3. Unload.
  4. Return in a year and see how they are doing.
