Idea: Colonization, Creation, and Commodities!

Recently whilst playing elite I noticed something: the only main colonized areas in space are the Bubble and Colonia. I believe this needs to be changed. All I want to do is making my own little outposts scattered through space. This brings us to the creation section of the post. I believe we should be able to manufacture, or create, commodities using raw materials. These commodities could be used to build outposts, but im not so sure about starport creation. I want to be able to further the progress of mankind. this could also give Fleet Carriers a new use: transportation of commodities to in progress starports. Personally, I dont think the fleet carrier is a great alternative to a station. It has no missions, limited services, and usually arent very permenant. Being able to build stations could allow us to also dish out missions to help expand those stations. Also, perhaps being able to create ships from raw resources at a station would also be interesting? I dunno. These are just my thoughts and i understand that they may not be added, but i just wanted to put this out there: WE WANT TO BLOW MORE BUBBLES!

I've thought about this quite alot in recent weeks. Colonization and crafting. Colonization is basically the concept of a FC but given a gameplay loop of crafting. Players could haul out the basic colony components on their FCs, or a friend's FC, set up shop, grow the colony, manufacture things (Ships, modules, commodities) they could then sell on their carriers. Carriers essentially become "stations" and the colonies are planetary outposts in this equation.
