Idea for money sink.

When a NPC interdicts you. Instead of demanding cargo, they demand money! The amount can be based on the ship the NPC is flying or how much you currently have (lets say a base of 10% of your total).

The mechanic will work kind of like the seeking goods. The pirate will get close to you, after a few seconds, the money is removed. The other option is to run away and not let them get close. Lastly, you can try to kill them and collect and bountys.

This also adds a bit of variety to the.."Scan detected"..."How to you guy make any money".

Thoughts?

Edit:
This isn't meant to replace the restocking fee, just add to the experience.

Currently, I'd say lets see how the new justice system, Powerplay costs, and the new fuel and repair costs affect the amount of cash in the world...

I fully expect them to change the repair costs. I haven't been hit by the fuel costs... I scoop everywhere I go. ;)

It's obvious they are trying to get control of the money in the game. It could be a bug...but I wouldn't be surprised if those costs stay close to where they are now. We shall see on coming updates!

We don't really need more money sinks.

A lot of people are struggling to get out of the cobra/asp bracket. We shouldn't be piling more grind onto them.

This is just as optional as any other NPC interdiction.
They are not required to pay and may even earn money.

It is still more sinks when we really need more faucets. For example, mining is still a laughing stock despite their new cargo limpets.

Tell it to the devs. Everything about this update points to a rapidly depreciating value of in game currency. Or a really big set of focused bugs. We do not know how much money there is in the overall economy...the devs do. If they want to drop any of the in game coin costs to any option in the game they have the option to do so. The thought that the community demanding cheaper or more expensive things could change the cost of things in game, sounds like a dream come true! It doesn't (or shouldn't anyway) work that way. It would immediately make the economy into 'free anacondas for everyone'.

I've been trying to. I'm not the only one who sees that they're just piling on more grind. They're doing a good job of not listening though.

"We do not know how much money there is in the overall economy...the devs do"
Pro-tip. There actually isn't an economy. Just an illusion of one. Commodities and credits are conjured out of thin air.

Bigger pro tip: if they do not get the economy we do have under control, people will be trading anacondas for fuel rescues! For a case study read about the economy in Diablo 2.

Controlling the is a delicate issue. You have to have something that's fair and applies to everyone. What can be fair to someone who just made their first million AND to someone that just made their first billion?
