Where I think there could be some mileage is funding new ships. Community competition to design a new in game flyable ship, the designs get voted on by FD/Community and the ship gets built by frontier and people get the option to buy as an expansion. The ship could be in game, but only available to fly if you have the expansion. You could have an annual competition and this might be a good way of supplementing the in game ships.

I already have the expansion pass, so paying more, for me, would be daft.
However, I know they've said they vould implement planetary landing now, but there would be no content. So I am content to wait until they can do ut justice.
by that I mean, missions and a reason to go planetside. I also hope the docking bays become mkre variable.
