Ideal distance from CV1 sensor

Hi.

Set up my new CV1 tonight and everything is good (awesome in fact!) but I can't figure out how to get my view forward of the cockpit seat.

I've tried running the setup over and over but makes little difference by moving closer to the sensor.

Does anyone know what the normal/optimal distance is to the sensor setup for ED?

The sensor is currently about 5ft away which I thought would be reasonable?

Many thanks

How far forward do you want to go? My sensor is only about 3 feet away and I have no issues. As the person above said - use the reset button. If you want to be further forward than it puts you then lean back a few inches before you press reset, then go back to your normal position. If you want to be crazy far in front of your seat - scoot back a few feet, press reset, then scoot back to your normal spot - your face will be up against the glass, or outside it! ;)

I suppose I just want to be 'in' the seat so I can see the arms/legs but my current view is constantly behind the seat.

I wondered if it was because I'd set the sensor too far away. It suits me best to situate the sensor 5-6ft from the sofa.

Also - the setup asks for height in feet/inches - I've been setting it to my physical height but should it be eye level to floor?

I'll give the reset button a go but wanted to check if there was anything else I was doing wrong.

Oh yes and I've been playing around with the graphics settings e.g. texture detail, distance, supersampling but nothing seems to change in the rift. Any advice on this would also be appreciated.

Thanks

I don't think ED cares where the sensor is. When you press the reset button it fixes your current position and orientation to a fixed spot in the chair, where the pilot's head would be, looking directly forward. So basically just sit exactly where you want to sit, looking forward, press reset and your head/view will be correct in the game, regardless of where the sensor is (as long as you are in a position it can track, obviously.)

If you find this is putting your head in the chair's headrest you're probably resetting and then leaning back/relaxing without realising it. The "fix" I mentioned above sorts that - lean back a few inches from your normal position, press reset, relax back to your playing position and you'll be a few inches forward of the headrest.

OK that's great thanks. Does the game remember you're position when you first reset it so that next time it puts you back in the same place - or do you have to physically move into the position again each time?

It doesn't remember, no. It always puts you in the spot they've defined (i.e where your eyes would physically be in the game). So if you find you need to do the lean back/reset/lean forward to get your preferred spot then you need to do it each time. The game occasionally loses position anyway, in my experience, so having reset bound to handy control is a good idea. Once you get used to it, it's only a very minor distraction.

OK I'll give it a shot this evening thanks again
