Ideas about fighters, passenger liners, and more.

First, I'm not sure what the terrible nightmare balancing issue was with fighers and AI pilots at one point (I've only recently gotten back into the game), but as it stands right now it looks like it would have been something great then someone decided it was just too cool and screwed it over. So yeah, let us equip more fighters on the larger ships, and let us have enough AI pilots to fly them all. Make the fighter cabins weigh double if you have to, but figure it out. I worked my way up to a Beluga liner just so I could see those two fighters flying around, only to find that the other 2 active AI pilot slots are permanantly disabled, but still visible, like ancient remnants of a time when this feature was actually cool. Take us back there, fix it. You might say "but you can have a player fly one of your fighters" ... well this would be cool, only nobody wants to because with money being as hard to come by as it is, it's just not lucritive. Make it so that a player flying in one of my fighters gets just as much money for it as if they were in my wing instead (since we can't have both ... another really bad call on dev's part imo).

Second, passenger liners ... those "prioritized" optional internal slots are cool, but there aren't enough of them. I shouldn't be able to do better passenger work in any ship that costs around the same price as the passenger oriented ships. But as of right now, Type 6 > Dolphin, Python > Orca, and well the Beluga is just a trainwreck that needs a LOT more optional slots. After putting on the absolutely necessary shields (that can only fit in the 6 slot) and docking computer (because it's crazy big and clumsy and seems basically designed to get stuck in the slot) to keep my passengers from hating me before I make more than a few stops ... then there's the SRV bay for those sightseeing missions, and the fuel scoop ... I end up with only 4 slots for passengers, which is just like the Orca which is easier to maneuver, faster, and cheaper. So yeah, the Beluga definitely needs an overhaul, and the other liners need to be superior in their field compared to their non-liner counterparts.

PRISONER CABINS! - I think these would be an amazing addition to the passenger cabins. Imagine a mission to transport prisoners (or even a VIP prisoner) in which pirates would come after you to try and liberate their comrade. I think that would be really cool, and it would be something more risky that a liner pilot could do without being against the local law (such as carrying passengers that are wanted by the station that gives them out. What kind of sense does that make, anyway?)

Finally (not that this suggestion hasn't been made 20 times a day since this game launched, but ...) give us a bloody dynamic economy. Right now, all of those items in the galactic market could be just as well named "item 1", "thing 3", "stuff 10", etc. They mean nothing, save for the few times they are contextually referenced in missions. Give us a way to USE these items, give them an intrinsic value to the players instead of just to the AI who is asking for them. If you need a point in the right direction, take a look at EVE Online, it's over 15 years old now and they've been doing it forever. I'm sure you can work it out.

That's all, thanks for reading. Good luck. Fix Quince, Ceos and Sothis while you're at it. I don't care about your dumb inbox upgrades. Do something we're actually asking for. ;)
