Ideas for games

I've been playing games for far too many years. Have been writing stuff for my own amusement long before I went to uni and got a degree. (second language I learnt was z80 assembler to give you some idea of how long I've been doing this sort of thing).

So I have an idea for a game MMORPG genre. Where and how would I pitch this idea?

A large number of game developer studios, including Frontier, don't take on ideas for games from people outside the company unless specifically requested. Your best bet for getting yourself heard is to work within the industry or try and get involved with the independent games scene - things like helping with mods or small projects of 3 or 4 people. This will get you your foot in the door so you can put some weight and experience behind your proposal when you eventually come to pitch it to someone.

When it comes to how, plan the idea (mechanics, gameplay, features etc.) in great length and accompany it with some sample artwork. If you have any sample code then that's even better - this makes you look like you really mean business :) Getting to a stage where your pitching an idea is pretty difficult, especially for MMOGs which cost a great deal of money, time and resource to make.
