Ideas for planet zoo

I have a few ideas for planet zoo. Can we have a function in-game to have us branle to have a kidplays option, where children can have planet zoo become more simplified for them, like Zoo tycoon 2 simplicity. I find it is very hard to play sometimes, because of the complexity of the game. So I was wondering if we could have it become more simple. As a game mode option. Please and thankyou, that would be great.

Also can we have an gamemode where we can be an animal an live in the zoo,

What exactly do you find hard about the Game? If it is because of Refunds and replacing of Enrichment-Items, I suggest to play in Medium Difficulty. I don't know what gets changed if you would play in easy Mode. You could also try Sandbox if you don't mind that much to not have the Online Market and Community Challenges. There are multiple Ways to customize your Game if you play in Sandbox-Mode

I find it is hard to play with all the things you can do, to create such beautiful zoos. I find the difficulty for me is all the ways you can build. And it takes a very long time to build for me, it takes a long time to build.. what I likes about Zoo tycoon 2. Is the simplicity of building the streets and the side walls. Could we maybe have zoos already built, like all the fences and side walls, I find that's might be the hardest for me.
Also, if we could we have easy controls, for building. Ways mode for controls maybe... Like in Zoo tycoon 2
Does this make sense?

Maybe you could try using the "pre made" blueprints from the steam workshop and the premade shops that are already built in the facilities tab? Then you could pick the animals you like?

Well, going from detailed to a simple building system - don't expect such changes in a released game.
Sounds like taking a step back.

Their building system will scare off some customers and gain others, who like this.

I would recommend 12344321's advice, and try to change that habitat to your liking.

Yeah. There are tons of fantastic enclosures. I can make habitat interiors great, but the outside is either lame or ugly or both. Sometimes I just get some shelter/scenery blueprints to add to my exhibits if I'm feeling lazy or out of time

Thank-you, I didn't know about blue prints. I will try them, but how do you get them to work, I don't know how to get them or them to work

Hi LittleLightz:

easiest way is to go to the Planet Zoo steam page, follow the workshop link. Then you can browse through all the items, habitats and buildings that the community have uploaded. You can search by key words or there are some categories like 'gift shop' or 'habitat' on the side bar. You can also filter by recntly added or community rating, most downloaded etc.

When you see ones you like you can hit the subscribe button and they will automatically upload to your game. If they are a blueprint they will appear as an option to place down automatically in the scenery or habitat menus just like the Frontier ones do. If they are uploaded as whole park then you can find them in the 'my parks' bit of the menu. Some buildings and habitats on the workshop are saved that way so if they don't appear in the scenery menus they amy have been put on the workshop as a whole park. You'll also only be able to place down blueprints if you have all the scenery researched and the right DLC so if you can't find one you've subscribed to that is another common reason.

Then you can just select them, place them down, rotate them, edit them as you like. I can really recommend downloading other people's creations even if it's only to see how they work. I'm not very good at building myself so I tend to download a lot and then edit them to make them what I want.

The only thing to be a bit wary of is that some people upload blueprints for habitats that they've built in sandbox with animal welfare turned off so they might not make your animals happy if you have it turned on. Some people also use loads of scenery pieces to create intricate detail but that can cause frame rate issues if you have too many of them. Sometimes the comments on the blueprint in the workshop will tell you that, other times you might have to either edit it and get rid of some of the pieces or unsubscribe.

Hope that helps!

Also meant to add - don't get disheartened by some of the really amazing stuff on the workshop - a lot of the creators are really brilliant, have put loads of hours into the game and quite a few of them got really good at the building system in planet coaster as well. I know some people get a bit down because they can't do the same level of stuff but I tend to take a more positive attitude - I don't have the patience or the skill to do it but luckily almost anything I might want to build exists on the workshop in one form or another even if it needs modification. They've done the hard work and I get enjoy it.

Also it's really fun xploring other people's parks and buildings. You never quite know what you are going to get.

Thats something i heard from a lot of people that bought the game. They saw all these beatiful zoos and thought they will do something like this just after the start. But they werent really into what this game is really about. Most of my friends that bought PZ in late 2019 didnt even know Planet Coaster.

Planet Zoo ist a game that offers you a lot of freedom. And thats what its all about. Its not just about building a zoo like in Zoo Tycoon 1 or 2. And its especially not like that disappointing Zoo Tycoon game a few years ago. When you just wanna place some preformed buildings, draw some fences and put your animals in those habitats, Planet Zoo is the wrong game for you.

This game offers an overwhelming lot of opportunities, but its also demanding a lot of hours just to learn the basics of the game. For beginners especially the building tool must be kinda frustrating. The Tutorial is just showing you the basics of the game, but is not really going into building, but in the end its up to you. If you like challenges and wanna enjoy this game, you have to spend your time in it. If youre just looking for a game that you can play once in a while for a few hours, planet zoo might not be the right game for you.

Its definitely designed for core gamers. And i like this. In my childhood games where much more difficult than they are today. You get a bonus and achievment for nearly everything you do and the games are created to give the player a good feeling by nearly everything they do - to make same buy the next game too. There aint really many games these days that are trying to challenge you. Like a dark souls f.e. But for people that wanna spend their time, theres nothing better than the feeling to built a zoo of your dreams - with opportunities no other zoo game offered before like this.

And like its said in this thread, even for people that dont wanna be that creative or spend so many time, theres the opportunity to get a lot of great buildings and habitats out of the steam workshop built and created by the community. Its great for players, that dont wanna get that deep into this game.

But tbh. for me thats not what planet zoo is about. Its great to have that possibility and to have so many awesome buildings etc., but for my planet zoo is about building my dream zoo - and thats just not something youll be able to do after a few hours of playing.

I can just admit to play this game, try things out, figure out how to solute some game mechanics, use online tutorials (paulsley, ladydesigner, rudi-rennkamel and so many more), place preformed buildings and try to change them, look how people made them to copy some of there techniques. When you give this game a chance and spend your time, it will reward you - but it might take a while.

I have an idea. It would be nice to have the option to automate certain events in game. One of my biggest grievances with the game is how challenging it can be to focus on a task you are undertaking. You are constantly interrupted by notifications of events that need addressing, e.g. inbreeding, fighting for dominance, crowding in habitat. I know that I can pause the game and address the events. However, it would be nice to not feel the need to constantly pause the game to address the events before they start to snowball. So I think there should be a way to remedy this. A button in the top left (with the others, ready for quick action) should provide some automation options that can be turned on and off:
  • Automatically put offspring (of "X" animal) with potential to inbreed on birth control
  • Automatically send all adult males in habitat/exhibit that are not alpha to trade center, quick sale, or to the wild
  • Automatically send new offspring in habitat/exhibit to trade center, quick sale, or to the wild
Basically, options to automate the tedious task of managing the animal population. The options should be able to be customized from the habitat level to an individual animal.
That ability would allow for a greater sense of ease when leaving the game un-paused and working on a project.
