I just got back from a recent trip to Disneyland and while there I started thinking about the things that I saw at the resort that I wanted to see in Planet Coaster. some of these ideas may be difficult or even impossible to do in the game programming wise, I'm not really that savvy with any of that stuff, but I do want to get these idea's out there if it can be done or if anyone does want to see this kinds of things even if some of my ideas are merely just "bumping the lamp" .
Queue's fork into separate paths
I've noticed that almost all rides at Disneyland do this as they either have duel stations or multiple vehicles are loaded on the station. it could be useful if we want to make dueling coaster stations and don't want to make separate queue entrances for each ride.
Pre-Show rooms.
In star Tours they stop you where you see the ship you're about to ride with R2D2 and C-3PO doing diagnostics. in Indiana Jones you're stopped in what looks to be a projection room with a safety spiel. To somehow relate this to game-play, maybe integrating this kind of system into your queue's, guests boredom could degrade slower then they would waiting in a normal queue especially if we had sections of the queue that immerse the guests into the story before they ride. (timed animations or what-not) other examples are the stretching room in the haunted mansion, or the TV Room for Tower of Terror. again to maintain a guest from being bored would be a decent game play mechanic.
Ride's that use the guests paths as it's track
just like at Main Street, there should be certain transportation ride's that shouldn't really have it's own tracks but use the guests pathways instead and even if they do need rails like the horse drawn carriage or car trolley they should also be integrated in the guests pathing but still have guests walk over them. planning the route can be similar to how a route is planned for buses in cities skylines. . and no queue should be needed. only a sign and guests just wait around it if they want to hop on for a ride.
queue's for meet and greets
while I'm not really a fan of this kind of thing at theme parks it does add a better simulation to the game. at disneyland (especially at Fantasy Faire or Mickey's Toontown) there are indoor attractions where you wait specifically just to meet a character and take pictures with them. I believe this is a great place for the animators to shine and have funny moments with each guests meeting characters just one on one rather than a crowd of guests just clapping along as the character does a bit of a dance and just walks away, for an example, check out the Gulpee rex animation where a kid gets stuck in his mouth!
