Engineers Identifing Old vs New Mods

As the subject line says, how best to identify old from new modifcations?

I've got a fleet of around 20 ships, some modded a long time ago. The most recent purchase (FDL) was modded with the 'new' Engineering (I can't recall when it came in) and I've an inkling my Anaconda might have a mix of components modded, both old and new.

But, is there an easy way to tell in-game the status of the mods? I don't fancy flying around the Engineer community with all of the 7-8 ships that got modded so far.

Thanks both. Speedcuffs found a thread that matches my issue. I did wonder if it's just down to eyeballs peering through a list of mods to see what doesn't appear cookie cutter. I expect other than the Conda, all my older ships will be Gen-1 Mods.

Take the ship to an Engineer (or remote workshop if you have the mod in question pinned) and attempt to improve it. If it is a "legacy" mod ytou will get a warning asking if you want to convert the "legacy" mod.

I think you can spot them fairly easy, just by looking at the modifications, if you're familiar with the new engineering. Anyway, if you have pinned blueprints for most used mods, you can load a ship and try to mod it remotely: the legacy mods won't appear in the list.
