If i could tweak the game alittle

A few minor things that I wish could be tweaked in game (in no particular order...)

1. Outposts having radio chatter like larger stations
2. Choice of star option to jump to in multi star system if already explored by player
3. Rank promotions are rather insipid. A one line message, no music or animation vs. Elite rank standing changes which are the total opposite
4. Incidentally, I like getting the Elite rank animation. Why does it have to self destruct after 30 days? I want to keep it.( I am very sad I know)

I can probably think of lots more but i am becoming in danger of being a moan.

I’d like to keep the Elite rank animations too!

Back in “Frontier: Elite 2”, a superpower rank promotion came along with a medal and a rendition of “The Great Gate of Kiev” which was suitably stirring and dignified. It is a pity that didn’t get carried over into Elite Dangerous, definitely :)

Something else I miss from Frontier days is the photo recon missions, though they were perhaps a bit more difficult there, due to having to fly in permanent FA off mode, effectively. Which I liked :)

I miss those as well. Also the bomb run missions, which were very similar and basically involved fighting your way through the defence forces and nuking a ground target.

Hehe they were. I seek to recall dropping waste military fuel canisters over Paris too then legging it. Very naughty.

Yes! They were fun - there was something a bit special about being handed the nuke missile and seeing it in the rack. Had to be a touch careful that you didn’t lob it at a ship en-route by accident :)

Hmm. A small tweak? I'd make it so boost no longer affects rotation rates. I have plenty of other changes I'd like to make, but calling them small tweaks would be disingenuous. That boost change would be a small one though*, and have significant positive impact on the game.

*With the possible exception of needing to adjust the AI appropriately.

One of the first things I tried with the nuke was to launch it at targets of my choosing. Wouldn't happen :-(

FRENOTX!!!! Welcome back brother :-D

Was that planet-based targets, or ships? The mists of time make me unsure of this now, but I thought it could be launched at ships if you weren't careful.

Either way.. Bring it back :)

I agree with all the above whole hartedly.

As far as small but oh so meaningful tweeks i cant think of much more, exept the timer on reboot repair seems excessive, bording on superfluous.

Great thread o7

I'd remove the altered mission spawn when a faction enters the retreat state (missions in nearby systems that point towards the retreating faction/system) so that ambient traffic is no longer enough to cause a retreating faction to flare up.

I'd add a flag to the player save that indicates when the ship is in danger. If the client disconnects unexpectedly for any reason this flag is not cleared on the savegame and the player must rejoin the mode they left.

I'd have left the old exploration modules in the game.

I'd put a cap on the number of systems a singe faction can expand into to improve variety & help those that operate on the wrong side of the law to find dockable assets not owned by a faction they are hostile to.

I'd change all discovery tags obtained before 3.3 from 'first discovered by...' to 'first visited by...' to differentiate them. Simply adding the discovery date would work too.

I wouldn't add a PvE flag to Open but I would add a PvP flag to allow interactions between mutually consenting players to count for BGS points with a cooldown to help mitigate exploitation.

[X] PvE
[ ] PvP

In the right hand panel.

Hehe, I can see the scenario now. PvP is ticked, target seen, interdiction process commenced. Target submitted, and immediately deploys weapons turns and attacks the attacker. Attacker realises that they have picked the wrong target, madly starts clicking the PvE option lol

Seriously Indigo I would love to see that option in the game, I think it desperately needs it.

"PvE Cannot Be Engaged During Combat"

It would also be a relatively simply task to simply change the radar indicator to denote PvE from PvP players.
