If i could tweak the game alittle

Can I also add a bit of hud colour variation? Yes, yes I know it can be done if you are prepared to tinker with the code abit. But having dev developed sliders that players can use; even preset versions would be awesome and add to player customisation on the fly. Hell, I'd throw some Arx at that if available.
 
I'd have the Holo me and Mission Giver, and Passenger NPC tech used to give faces to all the people that appear in Galnet

So reoccurring Characters in the narrative become more familiar, by more than just their name.

The NPC mission giver's and NPC Passengers have distinct fashion, colour pallets, apparel depending on their faction government, if it aligned to a super power and for tourists their jobs, so all these Admirals, Scientists, celebrities, and Politicians could be given images and look the part, and there seems to already be a system to generate them for the Mission and Passenger NPCs, so why not have a way to generate them on demand

Look back at GalNet and see how many different Characters reappear but remain faceless.
They don't need to be handcrafted just generated with the exisiting templates and saved for later use.
 
A few minor things that I wish could be tweaked in game (in no particular order...)

1. Outposts having radio chatter like larger stations
2. Choice of star option to jump to in multi star system if already explored by player
3. Rank promotions are rather insipid. A one line message, no music or animation vs. Elite rank standing changes which are the total opposite
4. Incidentally, I like getting the Elite rank animation. Why does it have to self destruct after 30 days? I want to keep it.( I am very sad I know)

I can probably think of lots more but i am becoming in danger of being a moan.

1, 3 and 4 : great ideas. I wonder why this is not in the game already.

2. Not definitely against it, but there are a few things to consider. This has been extensively discussed in many threads.

Only kind of back. Just keeping half an eye on the forums again, what with FDev saying they're delaying new features for the sake of trying to improve / fix what's already there. New features are unlikely to being me back, but fixing some of the underlying issues that (for me) undermined the game very much could.
 
I'd like a system where the BGS got split.

Those who dont want interaction can have thier PG/Solo galaxy, the rest of us can have one for Open.

Remember kids, if a small group goes unpoliced long enough you end up with serious problems. Example you might ask? Any goverment that manages to stay in power past thier allotted term.

Yeah I'm looking at you tories.
 
I know this is not a gameplay improvement or feature but ... If I had one thing to change in ED, it would be to remove the comet tails from other ships. REMOVE PLEASE. They are immersion killing, unrealistic graphics.
I'm railing now so be warned. The tail, the bright aggravating light, and the way the tails move are all rediculous. Afaik, seeing other ships at the distances we see in space would be almost impossible to pick out from the background starfield unless it was a huge ship. Maybe a spot of light moving but not what we have now in ED.

Instead of beatchin' and leavin' I'll offer an option or two. If the ship is on my sensers they look exactly as they do now with an amber diamond for unknown status and green diamond for "friendlies". If I target the ship, a box (or circle) surrounds the ship location with hopefully some info on the graphic. Maybe relative speed from you, distance, whatever and when identified as wanted or enemy, it changes color. (there are many more ways to do this but this is good for now or just keep the graphic we have with the 3 red vector triangles) I've played other games that do something similar (i.e., Evochron, or Independence War 2)

BUT, back on point, please remove these crazy comet tails from ships or at least give us an option to turn them off. Sorry for the rant but I hate those things.

Allow the bgs to control the mission board (like it was in the past!) rather than just everything everywhere to give meaning to "every other station" again.

I miss bubble exploration! Its dead now.
 
I'd love the ability to salvage from ship wrecks, maybe by using something like deconstruction limpets or even the siesmic charges to break up ship modules/materials/weapons/black boxes ect from ship wrecks. The hatch breaker could maybe be used to open up cargo hatches or escape pod bays if the ship is large enough.

Could add a scrap merchant to the list of contacts to sell damaged ship modules/weapons or store them to fix up and use yourself
 
Would be nice if players could name 1 planet or moon they discover. Has to be one no-one else has discovered/explored. Choose from a selection of preset tags and submit for final approval subject to standard rules for profanity etc

Failing that (with an eye on the future maybe) if player owned structures will exist, I hope we get to name them too.

Come to think of it, getting in a cheeky early ad:
Hook's Landing, for all your space catering needs.

Yeah, wonder how many derivatives of Uranus can someone come up with? Nice idea but think it through. FD would have to allocate a couple of devs just to check the names and not just in English but make sure that name doesn't mean something else in a foreign language. It would be a nightmare, just look at how the current profanity filter makes an absolute mess out of so many benign words.
