Newcomer / Intro If I rescan a system can I sell it's data again?

Say I scan a system and then sell it's data. Then if I return to that system and scan it again can I sell my newly scanned data for that system? Or is it once I've sold data for a system I can never sell data for that one again?

No, the data stay in your computer even after you have sold them (Your ship hoards the data, you are only selling a copy). That means that system will forever be discovered for you.

The systems I am running in now, I had only a basic scanner for a LONG time and didn't get full system scans done.


Now that I have the Advanced scanner, I'm able to sell that new data.


Been doing it all week.

Yes, I'm sure.
Because basic scanner doesn't discover all celestial bodies. Just the ones within 500ls around you.
Once you have ADS, you can discover the rest of the planets and sell those. But you won't be selling those you have discovered previously.

If you use a basic scanner then in a lot of systems it doesn't have the range to scan the whole system so with your advanced you are scanning things you missed first time round.
