Newcomer / Intro if I take a taxi from point A to point B, will MY ship be at point B when I arrive?

Wow, a word puzzle. Did you have a ship at A? Did you leave a ship at B? Do you have any ships?(new forum user).
No, just wanting to cross a huge distance w/o having to fly but I get that if I do, I'll have to make a long trek back.
Just wanted to confirm before I screwed myself.

Then, yes, ship will still be there. If you have a few credits, you can go to the shipyard at the destination and call your ship to you.

Guys, this is the newcomer's forum. The idea is newcomers ask questions we know the answer to so we can help them along in a friendly way. For stupid nonsense we have the Dangerous Discussion forum. :p Its not an unreasonable question either, in many open world games you can instantly summon your car/horse/whatever to where you are, no matter how you got there.

In this game all ships stay where they are, unless you either fly them somewhere or 'call them to you'. The latter is called ship transfer, and you do it from the shipyard. It takes some time and money. In very extreme cases, when you are 20,000 LY away, it can be very expensive and time consuming. When you are just starting out it will probably not take more than 15m and some pocket change.

It should perhaps also be pointed out that one thing you cannot to is "send forward" a ship, so it is there waiting for you when you arrive. You can only summon one of your ships to your current location, after you get there. And ship transfer takes time; I think the ships move at about 10 LY per minute? It's usually slightly longer than it would have taken if you'd simply flown the ship yourself.

So unless you already have other ships stored at your destination, or you plan on just sitting around in the concourse waiting for your ship to come in or have other on-foot activities planned while you wait, you are probably better off doing the flying yourself.

When you dock your ship then the ship remains there i.e. the ship does not auto-transfer while you ride the APEX shuttle.

However, inside the concourse is an NPC that will allow you to move the ship to your current location for standard transfer fees. This same NPC will let you select a local ship, as your "current ship."

This allows you to ride the APEX between two or more systems and select ships local to each location i.e. trading, mining, bounty hunting etc. without using a "taxi" ship.

There is some cost savings using the APEX shuttles versus always transferring ships i.e. flying a mining ship to a system and docking it to a local port then riding APEX to your other ship; returning only when you want to mine without paying to transfer the ship you want to use next over.
