If I take one more step.....

Up until now, 8,500Ly from Sol is the furthest I've ever been. This may not seem like much to the veteran explorers out there, but it's a big milestone for me. There are many many more light years ahead of me on the Distant Worlds expedition, though, so I'd better push on through! :)

Nice! You already have a target destination, or do you roam around till you get bored/wish to go home again?
What ship/config are you using, and what is your jump range?

My previous expeditions were all just pick an interesting looking nebula and head for it, but look out for interesting things along the way. I did several short-medium trips like this, took in several nebulae and prominent stars souch as VY Canis Majoris etc. I would normally hit my targets but did go home when I got bored a couple of times. These trips got me up to Ranger.

This trip actually started out as a test run for this build: http://coriolis.io/outfit/asp/05A5A...wRj-YuySsg=.Aw1jMnmMkA==?bn=Moonlapse Vertigo
I was thinking I needed big thrusters and strong shields for planetary landings, and also put some lasers and cargo space on 'just in case'. Unfortunately this means it only has a jump range of 28.6Ly.

Whilst I was out though, I stumbled upon Erimus' 'Scenic Route to the Core' guide (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=179532) and decided to go with that so I would finally get to see Sag A* and some nice views along the way, and then I saw that the Distant Worlds fleet would be following the same waypoints for the first part of the trip, and as I had already passed the first 4 and was sitting at waypoint 5, I continued on, with the intention of extending my head start and meeting up with the fleet at one of the major waypoints later on.

What I should have done is turned around and gone to refit, but I was already ~7000Ly out at this point and knew that if I did so then I probably wouldn't be bothered to catch back up, so I'm just pushing onwards.

Now that you're 7 kLy out, i would also just go on, but otherwise I'd drop the weapons etc. I am sure you know about that yourself :)
Anyway you have a better jump range than me in my Cobra. I got like 24.2 Ly, but hey, I am a Cobra hugger. Cobra anytime, anywhere xD

Yeah, I have a 33Ly build (http://coriolis.io/outfit/asp/02A4D...AwRj-YtUWqxA.Aw18WQ==?bn=Moonlapse Vertigo v2), but I'm too far out now to turn back!

I'll refit to the above once I return. Although when I eventually do so I'll probably be sick of exploring anyway! :)

I too have a soft spot for the old Cobra (MKIII of course, the MKIV is way too slow!). It was doing rare trade runs in my old Cobra that got me enough money to buy an Asp in the first place.

I think you'll be glad you've got those weapons. When the DW fleet start getting ripped out of witchspace and destroyed , you may be one of the few to make it back.

I'm trying to get to Sag A and back before it starts.

Put a 0 on the end. THEN I'll be impressed. ;)

You all are making me hungry for some tater tots. Or some saucy scalloped potatos. OR some nice buttery mashed potatos with gravy and mushrooms in them. OR a nice baked potato with butter, sour cream, diced onions, and melted cheese all smothered over it.....

Chips? Chips?

I like chips. Especially with gravy - really thick gravy you could surface roads with so you can hear the 'schlooop' as each one is pulled out from at least 10 feet away.

They do not though, however good they may be, come close to the roast potato. The roast potato is the king of potatoes.
