If I were to store cargo in a ship somewhere, hop into an Apex taxi and fly to another system, what happens to that cargo?

I can’t access my inventory on an apex ship so I have no idea where it’s went. Has anyone tested this or knows what happens? i don’t think I can afford to lose a meta alloy

Be aware that if you take an Apex to another port, then use the Inter Astra to call your ship over to that port, whatever cargo you had left on that ship will vanish.
True that! The game will give a warning however, so that one does not do it accidentally.

It stays with your ship.
At that point there are two options:
-you travel back to your ship
-you have your ship transferred to your current location (if a shipyard is present)

In any case, you don't lose the cargo if you travel by APEX.
Not sure about the transferring ship with cargo bit though.

it isn't allowed
for very good reason
and that you ask and then point out you cant afford to lose 1 meta alloy - pretty much nail, head, strike!

fly your ship or walk??? try to be sneaky, why?

imagine 500 cmdrs doing that kind of thing with , say 500 cutters full or tritium, delivered to...

you tried to use it as a way to avoid a problem that is very likely to occur if you play the game the way it is intended.

one of many possible exploits

be smarter than the npc that might interdict your ship, carry more than 1 MA. carry more than 1 item.
npc pirates are not genius, they are very easy to avoid, escape from, or give dirt too.

It's not a good idea to take a taxi while you've got cargo in your ship.
A few parts of the game are broken and you can end up not being able to board your ship, while also not being able to switch to a different ship due to the cargo onboard your current ship. It gets very messy and the prompts that are supposed to let you discard the cargo do not work properly.

Or Merits!
Powerplay the safe way!
There is a similar "safe" strategy for powerplay that does get used... get a bunch of commanders with fully loaded PP cargo on a fleet carrier, jump it to the far-away-system-to-be-fortified (preferably right next to the station) and let everyone drop off their loads. Bingo, system gets fully fortified in only 15 minutes with basically no risk.

Plus they dont show in the Local Trafic Report as they didnt jump into the system (which is what gets added to the Traffic Report) only the carrier did.
Unless that was changed recently.
