for the love of sanity this needs to be implemented asap.
Why a mission board offers you the same mission to the same system that you can't complete at the same time (Stacking abuse) is nuts.
Imagine if when you went to the shop brought 3 chocolate bars and had to go back to the shelf and pay 3 times in a row it just doesn't make any logical sense
Has there ever been an answer from FD if they are going to fix this/?
Actually, it should do something better than this.
It should actually do a check something more like:
Look at the mission objective we are going to generate (planetary outpost, etc) then look at if this EXACT SAME objective has been selected to be generated by any other missions in the commanders curret mission list.
If they are the same thing, generate a new objective, in a new location.
For example.
The classic planetary scan mission, which generates an outpost on a planet (there is a common "exploit" concerning this which is well known)
Let's say you take five of these missions. They all send you to the same planet.
It generates the first outpost for you to scan, and now tries to generate the next one, it then actually realises that it's trying to place it in the exact same spot, and stops. Then looks for a new location (it would be a VERY strange planet if there was literally only one valid location to place an outpost) and generates an entirely new outpost, in this new location.
It then repeats this process for the other missions you have, searching for a new location every time it tries to place something in the same place.
I'm utterly bewildered as to why this doesn't seem to be how it was actually implemented... I mean. How do you not think of this?
If this was how it worked, then mission stacking wouldn't be an issue at all, because you'd always be going to a new location for each mission.
This only works for generated mission targets though (these things, remember, don't even exist until the mission generates them. You could be sat at the exact spot and there would be nothing there, then a player comes along with a mission, and the object magically appears.
With missions that are to go to a specific location, which is persistant, and can be travelled to and interacted with, mission or not, it would need to be handled differently.
In that case, yes, it would make sense to simply check if it's the same faction, asking you to interact with the same object, if so, as you say, generate a new mission, or change the object that needs to be interacted with.
For instance, it would actually be fine to be asked by the same faction to:
Destroy the generator at Bobs base.
Hack into the Communications at Bobs Base.
Shut down the skimmer control centre at Bobs Base.
Destroy 5 skimmers at Bobs Base.
Because they are all different things.
It;s not acceptable for the same faction to ask you to:
Destroy the generator at Bobs base.
Destroy the generator at Bobs base.
Destroy the generator at Bobs base.
Destroy the generator at Bobs base.
Because... that's just dumb.
