If we have a landing gear warning why dont we have a docking permission warning?

I thought i was past doing this myself but it just happened about 10 mins ago due to my mind being on other things. Luckily i could get out in time.
One thing i will say though is if it happens when you're in a large ship with turning difficulties and realise at the entrance or just after, you're probably best just to stick it in reverse, hit the power and pray there is no one behind you. :D

This is exactly what I did the other night, cruising through the slot thinking to myself which pad was it?.. Oh C..p forgot docking permission, slammed it into reverse and just backed out again making that beep...beep noise in my head hoping no one would try and dock behind me

Because with a warning we wouldn't have the fun of a full-reverse backing out at high speed, muttering 'no no no no no no no....'

Which oddly I love...

Always have... ahem....

Strangely enough I also enjoy it.

My story, on auto pilot half aware with a route I'd run a few times. Suddenly realise something's wrong when coming into the pad and the horror sinks in. Lumber around like only a T9 can, and boost towards the door hoping there's only a sidewinder to splat on my windscreen in the way..... Nope, only a bloody Orca strolling down the middle of the slot like he owns the whole road..... T9 mashes into Orca creating a dreadful traffic jam and noise, manage to just get past heavily damaged and lasers open up.

Annoying yes, but a great adrenaline rush to break up the trucking tedium, and would have made a hell of a show for people to laugh at if I'd been in a populated system.

It happens to me regularly when I'm chatting on TeamSpeak, but I always notice as I pass through the letter box as I look for my pad number. In this case I don't try to turn around but I also just press my reverse button instead, as it's much quicker that way. Thankfully, I never bumped into something big that was following me, like a T9 or an Anaconda. :)
