Hmm i bought and FDL a couple of times. But just couldn’t get along with it. I’ll give one another go some day.

If you saw me flying mine at the moment you'd think 'total n00b!' - easy ship to fly, but difficult to master... Hilarious to fly on a new HOTAS and never used before pedals... It has been a long time since I missed the target quite so much..

Lots of engineering brings the FDL agility up nicely... Which is good & bad :ROFLMAO:

Try using Gauss on a fully engineered Asp Scout with a game pad.

I'm getting there.

you know, there has been no need to go the whole mile to the dark side.
on my bubble account, as i was missing the FDLs sound (luxury muffled, yeah you can hear the kleather and rare woods!) and flight model, i build a lightweight 32t cargo mission running and exploration FDL. basically a luxury cobra mkIII with more utilities you need.
that helped me to stay clear from sporting a combat FDL. until recently ...
I've been pondering over building an exploration Mamba... not sure how viable it is but as a short distance, FC based one it might be more fun than your average DBX. Similarly for the Ferdy.

I also held on to buying one as I'm not too fond of following the meta and they are way too common. But I have to say, it's a lovely little ship. Packs a very strong punch but most importantly, it's such a joy to fly. Feels like the iCourrier: tanky, fast and agile for it's size. Very powerful lateral thrusters and I've been using it quite a lot.

Also, it forces you to do much more active pip management than a krait or a corvette, which have gigantic PDs and kinda allow the commander to lazy out

Just looking at my module storage. I have a fair amount of fully engineered goodies to throw into one. So give me a nudge towards next weekend and maybe I’ll buy one. \o/

I tried one. Twice even. Really wanted to like it. But then it only has 6 or so internal slots. Like a sidewinder. Will it make a good long range exploration ship? Nope. I put it back.

What, im not mad. The corvette makes a great exploration ship. Same with the type 9. That's its premier role.

But back to those ships.. in a weird twist of fate, the mamba makes an excellent carrier based exploration ship. Its one of my first choices. Hmm.....

I hate the FDL, and restrain from ever flying them....

....That's why I only have 3!

I'm not even being sarcastic.
I dislike the whole "Meta" thing - but the fact is, the FDL (when properly treated) can be very effective in combat.
....Sometimes I just have to suck it up 😭

It is certainly my favourite in CZs - but my ships are certainly not the META, it would be wasted on me ;)

I ended up buying one.

And I absolutely hate myself for saying this, but... I like it. It's good. It sounds good. It's very fun to fly. And free from gimping myself it finally allowed me to tick yet another box on the bucket list...
It's a nice ship, but I can't bring myself to use one for the same reasons. Ended up getting a Mamba as a compromise. The ship may be inferior, contrarian, and symbolize the male mid-life crisis, but it's so shiny.

The Mamba is the prettier ship:

But even G5'd it's not as nimble as the FdL. I'd rather take the maneuverability over the straightline speed of the Mamba.

Can't believe I'm shilling for the FdL now.🤦‍♂️
