If you could have only one ship it would be....?

I'm an explorer at heart, so I prefer my Asp, but I'm glad we're not limited to a single ship. I often swap ships for particular tasks, but I still use the Asp as my main ship.

As Member of the Sidewinder Appreciation Society, I will say
"The Sidewinder Mk.I, of course!"

Can't argue with that! My sidewinder is one of my favourite ships, but due to commodities I need in my hold, I can't swap back to her because she only has 4T of cargo space at the moment

Courier. Small and agile, and incredibly fast with enough internal space to do whatever I want. (no i'm not a bulk trader) It can also take a real beating and has enough firepower to ruin anyone's day. It also looks nice (come on, where's the ship kit already?).

TBH I am partial to small ships.

Without a second thought the Cobra MK III. It is the iconic Elite ship and it can still do it all. It is fast, it is cheap. It can be fitted to fit every role pretty decently (except bulk trading obviously). As has been said in this thread....it does everything with that Cobra panache.

However, if the Clipper could land at outposts my choice would be Clipper for the same reasons. Fast, pretty, can be fitted to do everything decent. However, losing access to outposts is to restrictive when it comes to missions.

The reason there are so many ships is because there are so many roles to fill, but if I were stuck just being able to choose one... The Keelback.
There isn't any one thing it does amazingly, there isn't anything is does badly. As a general-purpose, multi-role ship, the Keelback does everything.. ... acceptably?

Relatively inexpensive, fair cargo space, armors decently, 2 small 2 medium hardpoints, it will get you where ever there happens to be.
May not be the most stylish, fastest, toughest, but it is extremely versatile.

I'm pretty attached to my Python as the ultimate multi-role ship. I enjoy the ASP X as well, but can only see it falling second because it doesn't unleash the level of firepower nor have the durability of the Python.

Same here. Only thing I like to fly is the Courier/Eagle/ieagle.

Frontier just needs to make NEW small/agile ships already (don't mention the ship launched crap, that is definitely not what I am talking about here), fat flying bricks are not for everyone.

They could even just rehash existing ones (like the cobras/vipers). Imperial vulture (same stats different look) could be really gun! (No, the courier isn't the same at all)
I really wanted to like the FDL and Python but they both felt terrible maneuverability wise and their cockpit views disturbed me a great deal.
