If you could make a DLC for Planet Zoo what would it be?

For me personally, I would make a Nocturnal Animal Pack with a free update feature of a Nocturnal House with the ability to decorate them and place habitats medium/small sized habitats for them.

Nocturnal Animal Pack:
  • Aye-Aye {Headliner of the Pack}
  • Potto/ Pygmy Slow Loris
  • Serval
  • Kinkajou
  • African Civet
  • Southern Tamandua
  • Prehensile-Tailed Porcupine/Owl Monkey
  • Tokay Gecko/Naked Mole Rat
  • 20 Building pieces of Signs and Texts

  • Free Update Content
  • A new mechanic called the Nocturnal House where you can expand or change it to however you like with its own custom enclosure gates to put in your night loving creatures. You can customize the Nocturnal house with you being able to change the UV light color or how it looks.
    - You can also use past DLC and base game animals like the Aardvark, Kiwi, Porcupine or the Armadillo.

Oh, if I could be allowed to be 100% selfish. A treetops pack!

Treetops Pack
  1. Black howler monkey
  2. Black and white colobus
  3. Tree Kangaroo
  4. Secretary bird
  5. Any perching/whistling duck species (I’ll still use the WFWD as they do perch, but it turns out not as much as I originally thought, works either way)
  6. Roseate spoonbill
  7. Ocellated turkey (my oddball for the pack!)
  8. For the exhibit: I’m gonna say chameleon because I don’t think we will ever get WTE birds (would love to be wrong)

Solid Animal Pack, another wolf, a good feline, first marsupial from America, loved spider monkey, and common vampire. Very good pack and could rival a pacific west.

Asia animal pack:

Hamadryas baboon
Honey badger
Markhor
Pallas cat
Père David’s deer
Chinese alligator or Reeves pheasant
Golden snub nosed monkey
Ex: Spectacled cobra

PLUS:
Anniversary: Blackbuck

A monkey and a birds pack, either as two seperate packs or rolled into one with a monkey pack being prefered as thats a hole even 4 animals could reasonably close, let alone 7, birds not so much.

For species id choose:

Scenery:
  • Large South American Monkey (Spider)
  • Small South American Monkey (Cotton Top Tamarin)
  • Baboon (Hamadryas)
  • Indian Monkey (Gray Hulman)

Animal pack:
  • third south american monkey (white faced saki)
  • african monkey (mantled guereza)
  • weird lemure (Sifaka)

Baboon and Sifaka would greatly expand the actual use cases as their habitat designs would look vastly different from the current monkeys in game and in the pack and would diversify the body shapes.

3 South American Monkeys are a must and 4 SA Monkeys feel like a bottom line for okayish representation.

Gray Hulmans would finally fill the generic asian tailed monkey category, having a large range in both area and biomes, aswell as being commonly mixed with other asian species like tapirs and orangutans.

A African not baboon monkey is the least important imo as lemures can allways fill that gap just fine, but when we got 7 slots it only feels right to dedicate one to them and fill africas arguably last hole that isnt bird shaped

The more realistic pack - Coastal Scenery Pack:
Walrus
Sea Otter
Pelican
(any species)
Pied Avocet
An exhibit crustacean, loads of options and I’m not sure which one. Maybe the coconut crab depending on how you feel about it being exhibit vs habitat.

The scenery set is mostly here solely because I really, really want a yummy clapboard set lol 🤤, though loads of great plants could be included here too. More pines, palms, ground cover, and of course some big hunky kelp.

Alternatively, ditch the scenery and add:

American flamingo as an “easy clone”
Green sea turtle as another crowd pleaser and adds a reptile to the pack
A sea duck species like a spectacled eider, Chinese merganser, or harlequin duck.

The slightly less realistic pack - Islands Animal Pack:
My view on an islands pack mostly consists of endemic species that likely otherwise wouldn’t have a shot of getting in the game. I feel like a lot people throw in aquatic species that aren’t really island animals and just happen to live around some islands (the green sea turtle or the infamous manatee lmao), island subspecies or populations that are very similar to mainland ones (Scottish wildcat) or animals that are just as much mainland species as they are island ones, and thus have plenty of opportunity to be included in other packs (musk ox and walrus for example). Island ecosystems are so, so unique and imo it would be such a shame to have a roster consisting of animals that are cool in their own right, but not really a proper showcase of what makes these ecosystems so fascinating. That said I wouldn’t mind one or two of these animals to sell a pack like this to general audiences, as most of its previous potential headliners (kiwi, Tassie, fossa) have been taken by existing packs.

You might also notice that this list is heavily made up of birds and Oceanian animals. Normally I would try to add more diversity in an animal pack (though in this case I wouldn’t even mind since we’re talking the least represented non-Antarctica region in the game and one of the most underrepresented groups in the game, not to mention a very, very broad group at that), but a vast majority of island animals are birds due to a variety of evolutionary factors, and Oceania is a region made up entirely of islands, all of which have their own completely unique biotas (the wildlife of Papua is much different to Hawai’i for example), thus I still feel it’s a good representation of the pack concept. (Speaking of Papua, I did include a lot of species from there specifically, but I figured I’d make an exception to my otherwise near nonexistent rule of doubling - or tripling - down on islands since it’s missing quite a few of its essentials, not to mention it’s exceptionally biodiverse and has quite a few zoo-common species)

Matschie’s Tree Kangaroo (Papua)
Kagu (Kanaky/New Caledonia)
Nēnē (Hawai’i)
Victoria Crowned Pigeon (Papua)
Short beaked echidna (Australia, Papua)
Aye-Aye (Madagascar)
Japanese Serow (Japan)
Tuatara (Aotearoa)

Tbh I don’t have interest in the serow, I just threw it in because of how Oceania heavy the pack was otherwise to the point I might as well just make it another Oceania pack… haha jk… unless... 🤭 You could ditch the aye-aye and the serow for a perentie and a South Island takahe or NZ shelduck and honestly? It’s still just as banger, if not more so.
