If you could take the next X months off - would you wipe today and go for the tripple Elite contest?

I could theoretically take a sabbatical at any point and wholly dedicate my life and try to win the triple crown. I should have wiped on the 16th but I hesitated as I had worked my way up to 100 million via the golden rare good days.

What do you guys and girls do if you had the chance to just play elite all day long for the foreseeable future? Do you think it is way too late to have any chance at the grand prize??

Edit:
To make my question a little clearer, imagine that you have the following hypothetical mindset.
You judge if there was at least 15% chance at winning the grand prize starting today, you would take the next x months off and play elite everyday for at least 12 hours. This is ignoring all other aspects of how much money you would lose in wages, if you would hate elite afterwards, that it would be unhealthy to sit for 12+ hours everyday. Your only focus in this scenario would be the big money and that you would have enough time for it - do you think you have a reasonable chance of winning if you wipe today?

I always play Open. If I could take the time off... Sure I might give it an honest try. But that isn't happening and I'm not fooling myself.

Not a chance. I have a job, I play games for entertainment. Turning games into a second job would ruin it for me, and yes I think its way too late to have an opportunity to win starting from scratch today.

That is the best case scenario. More likely you'd be burned out, ruined something you enjoyed, burned your vacation time, and ended up with nothing to show for it.

Yeah, that is true.

No, because I play at my own speed, if it takes me 5 years to hit Elite, so be it, its not a problem and I'm certainly not going to try rushing just to attempt to get a prize.

Yeah the concern that I would be burned out from playing elite and would have to put it down for a year or so occurred to me.
On the other hand I would have 10,000 € to take my mind off that fact :D

I mean reaching Elite in all 3 categories.

Well, the combat one is the hardest to get. Exploring is easy and trading is just a grind, especially with all the trade tools. A grind, which is quite bearable with 10k waiting for him at the end...

If you are relying on the trade tools then you have 0 chance of being the first to elite trader. Those rely on crowdsourced data and the most lucrative trade routes are not being added until well after they are drained of their maximum profits and the power traders that understand how to find them have moved on.

Not sure how you can say the combat one is the hardest to get when that is the only one that seems to have been accomplished at this point. Seems to me the combat one is the easiest elite ranking to attain.

mmm, those numbers on that twitter image look very very low. I am more than that, 500+ bounties and 3m and still competent.

If someone gave me three months off and pointed at my computer with ED loaded on it...I would wait until they left and rush to the airport for a flight to Fiji or Tahiti. After three months of complete bliss I would come back and my stuff in-game would still be waiting for me :)

I have edited the OP to make my question a little clearer.
Thanks for the input so far :)

Actually I reckon I could get combat in about 2 weeks. Trading is what takes longest I think.

To be fair they are all easy grinds, its just a matter of time invested.

I don't know if I'd have a reasonable chance of winning it, to be honest. But I know with absolute certainty that I'd be unwilling to devote the time and energy. I enjoy Elite - as a game; for having fun, only.

Yeah that's the thing. If I had any indication that my chances are anything other than remote at best I would go for it, but I fear I might have waited to long and no amount of daily playing will increase that chance.

I'm fully assuming that the dials are tweaked up to maximum grind, and the last couple of levels (Dangerous->Deadly->Elite) will take months of farming just by themselves.

I can think of other ways to have 'fun' tbh.
