If you die, do you lose your criminal record/status?

You stop being wanted and lose the main bounty but any fines you've got against you are still going to be there to be paid off by you, or not. I never pay them. I'm waiting to see what happens if I don't.

So what's to stop you simply go around blowing up innocent folks for a few hours until you happen to get blown up... And the only cost to you is the insurance buy back cost?

You'll get zapped to little crispy bits by a station. Happened to a friend of mine who'd forgotten to pay a 75c fine.

I tested the client-kill fix a few days ago, that meant shooting up a space station (lots of different fines there) and getting destroyed very quickly. After I did the 3 attempts I needed, still I had a range of fines to pay off from those 3 attempts.

Yes your criminal record remains after destruction. Earlier in the game I did some things in Asellus Primus and built up a bounty of 350Cr against me and for reasons known best by the station (could have been stolen goods or flying weapons out in the no fire zone) I was destroyed by the station.

My wanted status had gone and I went happily about my business. Then I checked and found I still had outstanding fines against me and 0.45 hours to pay. As I had some business there I settled up with local law enforcement. I haven't tried leaving them unpaid, but I presume that once the time limit (24 hours iirc) has passed you go back to wanted. I don't know if they add any extra penalty for failing to pay the fines, maybe someone could try that?

If you die, do you lose any/all criminal records etc?
In the full game, you will have to pay off your fines and bounties in that jurisdiction before they let you go in another ship. Loans will be available to be laid off via garnishing of profits or via missions.

The legal system is a little messed up at the moment and the distinction between death and ship destruction needs to be made clear.

Are bounties against you or your ship? Same goes for fines too. Are rewards paid for killing the player or destroying there ship. It's a bit muddled. I don't think it will be long before it's all sorted out though.
