If you had to choose between animals or items for a next Pack what would you choose?

Animals no question. I enjoy the building sets but I'm more in the game for the animals. Personally though I like the mix they're giving us.

But yeah, it'd be great to see half the pieces and double the animals.
I'd love this, but I really don't think that's an equivalent exchange given the amount of work I assume goes into each thing. I think it'd probably be more like, no new building pieces in exchange for one additional animal. Which I'd still take.

Yeah, you're right about that one. Not a very balanced choice :D

I'd pick items (that's building pieces, foilage and enrichment items, right?) for a next DLC. If they did an only items pack with only basic zoo building pieces, that would be great.
Would like to see an only animal pack later on.

Don't think an only animal pack with please most people while waiting 3 months. Didn't like the Australian building pieces, so it became clear that items are a big part of keeping an interest in the game. (I know i'm not the only one on this one)

I think both are equally important for marketing purposes, as I said before, a impressive screenshot of jaguar nearby a temple is probably more marketable than just jaguar in green grass. For the trailer, having an awesome zoo with lots of new scenery pieces gives it a certain charm.

If the direction of scenery pieces is going to be similar as in aquatic pack, meaning not that themed and versatile, then I would really like it to have both pieces and animals. I also love new enrichment items, there will never be enough of them for me.

You're completely right and I'm aware a single animal could take as much time to make as +100 scenery pieces. Just to make it clear, what I suggested wouldn't or shouldn't cost 10 € but more. And it's something I'd love to see but that most likely won't happen.

On a side note, making animals now shouldn't be as difficult as it once was. And the more unique (note that I say unique, not individual) rigs they create such as the one for the penguin, seal etc., the easier it should be to create further animals based on existing rigs.

I’d love a pack strictly for building pieces with maybe two themes, signs/statues for each animal and maybe a new transport ride.

Then have a pack that’s strictly animals (more than 4 habitat animals and one exhibit animal).

Get away from regions and just give us some wildcard choices. Cough Shoebill cough

Animals no question, but also more foliage from my home Australia and things like mesh panels for walls and roofing for animal sleeping areas. For animals, I know the Aquatic Pack gives us otters, penguins and pinnipeds of a sort, but I really want the Asian Small-Clawed Otter, a penguin representative of each major genus, for example the crested penguins like Fiordland, Northern Rockhopper or Macaroni penguins of that genus, something like that and New Zealand Fur Seal for eared seal representation along with of course California, Australian and Southern Sea Lions.

I'd love an items utility pack - zoo infrastructure additions - Consisting of -

  • more transport options (cable car with cable and multiple drop off zones for hilly zoos, and long enclosed monorail train - forward seats and glass windows for weather and bigger capacity), bigger trains with planco engines and large 25 seater carriages - for train tours and transport in your busier zoos. And transport designed building pieces.
  • Entertainers/mascots - and the talk staff also doing backstage zoo area tours for the rest of the year - seriously - they do one talk a year and sit in the staff room - (love them though).
  • more education displays, and displays displaying plant and biome environment info - ie/ aquatic landscape info - ie plants of the region in the enclosure and perhaps particular specimen plant info. Also pick up maps or information for guests.
  • restaurants and bistros - with designed restaurant and bistro building pieces and utilities - where guests can sit at tables overlooking exhibits and eat from trays of bistro food and we can custom design the space to fit into any area,
  • big gift shops that guest can walk around shelving and pick things like tee shirts, plushies; say four exhibits big that can be tailored to our guests and themes. If it were modular and we can pick four areas to put into it and then guests traverse the area to parooze the merchandise.
  • hotels - so the zoos can be appealing and luxurious to rich Planzoo guests - maybe with designed rooms (that we can see into) and balconies overlooking the zoo or theme - with associated building pieces for the amenities.
  • Zoo maintenance vehicles and designated zoo maintenance roads for backstage tours and interest and so we can really design more structure into the zoos. Perhaps a tour vehicle for guests on the tour with the associated tour staff and they use these roads as well to get to backstage exhibit spaces for their tours.
  • more aquatic exhibits and as suggested on other discussions - bigger - four times perhaps - until fish come swimming along into the game.

Animals for me. Although I personally think the most likely course is to continue to get mixes.

If an items pack was extremely well chosen and designed, with every piece being something that everyone would/could use, then I might be persuaded to vote the other way. The top 1,000 requested flexicolor pieces, for example. But I feel like an items only pack is more susceptible to the risk of getting filled up with a lot of less useful items, just to be able to advertise a high piece count (which I imagine would be crucial to marketing such an items only pack). In which case the hypothetical trade off of losing an opportunity to get animals wouldn't make sense to me.

Definitely animals for sure if it came down to one pack or the other. I think frontier has done great with the items given to us and I do believe they are important to a game like this as well. I guess it all comes down to the way you prefer the game. Since I play sandbox 98% of the time although I try to make realistic zoos the building pieces and what not are important to me. I also think some of the more requested building pieces like mesh and more roofing materials will come with future dlc updates.

What about the infamous Jurassic World Evolution, it got purely dinosaur DLCs, Carnivore, Herbivore and Cretaceous Packs, so Frontier may take that into consideration with Planet Zoo

I think it’s a false question: implicit in it is the assumption that fewer items >> more animals which I don’t think is likely to be true. Almost no items need animating and none require behavioural coding - the limiting factor for the number of animals is vary, very, very unlikely to be the people who work on art for the items and animals.... therefore I reject the implicit premise of the question.
