If you have an Intermediate Discovery scanner, do you need a Basic one?

So as part of my pledge I have an Explorer upgraded Cobra MkIII. It has both a basic and an intermediate discovery scanner. The intermediate scanner can detect objects across a small system. Do I need both or can I get rid of the basic scanner?

I'm certainly no expert but I'm sure I read somewhere you can't have one without the other, I'll see if I can dig out where I read it.

I been using just the intermediate discovery scanner. Have not had a problem. But that could be Gamma 1.0

No you can sell the basic one, while keeping the intermediate the basic one is just weight.
