If you Use a PS4 communities function to support Elite dangerous gameplay you need to find another system to support your powerplay/power faction...

Its currently disabled on Mobile allready but its being pulled from PS4 completely... ( like other functions are being dropped from PSN store... )

I was trying to make PS app to behave nicely as a second screen and keyboard on PS5 as it used to work on PS4.... no dice. The new app looks amazing, but that's all it really does.
As the number of games that support a true second screen function is probably as low as the ones that support the controller's touchpad, I haven't used the app in years, especially since I got a small bluetooth keyboard.

It's a much better idea to use a dedicated keyboard, true, but on PS4 I could use the PS4 app on the phone to enter messages on screen just fine. Now it's not doing that anymore on PS5, the new and "improved" PS app.

Yep as they stated before PS5 release All mobile apps would need an update to be PS5 complaint and only the PS app and PS remote play was getting one..
Doing so resulted in many older IOS and android devices being dropped to support PS5 use even if you did not own a PS5...
Playlink titles do not work on PS5 as the apps security was not upgraded...
PS remote play was updated to support H265 (not H264 of the PS4) remote play video streams Even if you only had PS4.
On PC the remote play app Moved to hardware decoding only not software video decoding any more so that broke many a PC compliance...

PS5 was built from zero so upgrades were made with out having to worry about compliance with last gen restrictions ...

So basically, a ham-fisted approach.

But let me tell you, the new PS app, which is supposed to work well with the PS5 has less functionality now on the PS5 than the old PS app used to have on PS4. I wonder how can Sony do this with such amazing grace.

Try using copy and paste from spansh to your galmap on your bt keyboard and you'll understand why second screen is absolutely necessary. You can have your next route plotted by the time you're done supercharging. It makes long travel significantly quicker. Especially when utilizing split screen on most current phones.

It worked like a charm on PS4 with the PS4 app.... you cannot enter text in the PS5 app on the PS5 anymore, or maybe I am just too stupid to figure it out.

I am at a loss for comprehension at sony's decisions lately. Only thing I can guess is they are under new moronic management or a corporate spy is doing in house sabotage.

I figured it out; you cannot use the PS app itself, but the Remote Play app. You connect it to the PS5, and use the phone on-screen controls to bring up the galaxy map, and the field where you type in your route. All this ON THE PHONE, ok? Then, when you click that field, the phone's keyboard pops up and you can use it to enter your text or do a paste.

After you're done, you have 60 seconds to reconnect the controller to your PS5, because you were remote playing it, remember? So that's the only way to bring up the keyboard on the phone in order to use it on the PS5... this crap was not present in the PS4's version of the app, you just had that field and when you clicked on it, you could enter text, copy/paste, whatever you wanted, you didn't have to control the whole console with your phone just to bring up the keyboard...

Hopefully ps5 will get a more recent second screen app that works for it. It could just be because ps5 is still fairly new. I don't remember at what point in the ps4s lifespan the second screen app came out. It would be nice

Second screen was released with firmware 1.50... the same day of the PS4 release in North America...
Only game that used it was playroom...

It became stand alone app a lot later... along with PS messages app...

This kind of makes me think of how Amazon prime is screwing us lately. I used to get sooo much 'included with prime' but as of late, most of it now requires a subscription to paramount or NBC or some other recently developed crap stream service not worth the code it's written with, while the cost of Amazon prime remains the same but now with less options for your money.

Sony seems to be following this business practice of less options being worth equal or greater value. things like this make me hope the covid vaccine kills us all 😉

Are you living in USA... AT&T and you have a connection...:ROFLMAO:
those services are not aviable out side USA so there content is still combined with older streaming services as we can't sub even if we wanted to..
There not global...
PSN is also quiting new media and film streaming as they lose contracts as well...
