If you're being tired of people FORCED to play Elite Dangerous...

So having an opinion is just right if the opinion is negative? That's a great way to be tolerant!

I didn't challenge the OP's opinion of the game with a single word.
In parts i may even share it.
What i disagree with are his accusations of "whining" and "crying", and his overly condescending and sarcastic tone when hes asks "what is your problem, stomach hurt, girlfriend trouble etc".
The very style of his post hints at his level of entrenchment and intolerance.
And i disagree with such form, no matter if it comes from people with a generally positive or generally negative view om the game.

You're making a good point. When urging people to be positive, practising what you preach would indeed strengthen the message.

Although my stomach does indeed hurt, and girlfriends, well they're always trouble.

All games are like that - full of haters & fanboys (extremes from both ends of the scale).

Forums could do with ejecting both kinds of poster ... very toxic for the community.

Is it, because we react the wrong way?

If someone complains here, like bad negative complaining, no conctructive argument, just as a thought experiment, what would we, means the community, what would we do?

We would answer, try to convince him, tell him, he should play something else, and what ever, you know whats going on.

This has two effects:
1) The thread stays on top, is highly visible, and attracts other complainers and unsatisfied people, who see themselves affirmed. They jump in answering, creating new threads.
2) The OP complainer receives attention, which is a positive feedback.

So, it is emergent of the system. Its not a property of this game, its a property of the forum, of all forums without proper censorship.

Or can we as a community keep it down on our own e.g. if we just don't answer? No attention is frustrating enough and those can leave finally for their own good?

This post explains your intentions and reasoning way better than the two liner you posted before (which was just as spiteful as OP in my opinion). I can even agreed with it ;)

...posting threads with all this whining, raging at Developers, and obviously confirmation of lacking proper piloting skills, please chill..., step back and browse the XBox forums instead!!

It's such a joy to see how those guys perceive (what Elite Dangerous recently became) the art and beauty of Horizons 2.1! :D

I'm browsing the forums at work, during some launch, cigarettes break etc. And digging through those complains there and there isnt way of fun at all.

We're talking a computer game here guys!! A pretty damn good one and the most technologicaly advanced there is on the entire gaming indistry market!! Have no idea how this can be even remotely connected to the frustrations I'm seeing in some people here...

Does something/someone hurting you?? Having stomach problems, your girlfriend dumped you (because of playing Elite too much?:p), you're broke?? What is it?

...or wait! I really don't want to know. Elite Dangerous is a dream of mine, the love I enjoy since 1,5 year now (have you noticed any positive feelings here?, or you're being used to mixing "love" with "rage" in your real life..?!).

Anyways, one of a great simple examples of how to recently seek people here, sharing similar joyfull attitude as you do:

Cheers Commanders and wishing you a great, sunny afternoon! :D

...and out there? Fly dangerously!!! ;)
What is even more sad is people with hundreds of hours in a game giving it a bad steam review, if not a lot more then hundreds......and going 'not worth the money'

Hard to say. If they are repeatedly against your line of thinking and don't listen to reason (or justify their stance) /ignore them.

What I do know is that if you post something that's too far to one side then the opposite end comes in to defend.

Easy way to wind people up .. not that I would do that on this forum for sport .. not me sir :D

If the complainants just posted their issues once in those angry threads they'd probably only be a page long....

Cheers for the pointer OP, going to have a read - it's all about attitude :)

i got to say, the game is so broken at the moment, but i still love it. and opinions are like arsehole, everyone has one. Just step back and breathe once in a while.

Get back to work THE BOSS

Repped OP! While I know it's a tough game at times, I've really enjoyed it since it came out, and even though it's had a couple of rough spots it's been a dream come true for me as well.

Most of the baiting, trolling and long angry threads would be a lot shorter, and a lot more pleasant to read if people posted with this attitude in mind! Very nice comment. :)

EDIT: Just to be clear, I feel this goes for all sides of the argument. Everyone has their own opinions, and it's fine whether they are positive or negative. Problems come with the crowd that attack someone for their opinion, or tell them some variation of "go away".
Thank you.

While I don't appreciate all whine around here either, statements like that are still patronising and inflammatory too. [hehe]
It's called a spice! ;)
