Ignore Missiles

An option to ignore missiles when you press the target next hostile key would be nice, since at the moment they don't seem to despawn but instead fly 5km or so away and just sit there and mess up your target key whilst not being an actual threat.

I agree.
Ignoring missiles should be the default setting.
Targeting them is completely useless.

You can indeed, I don't have a video unfortunately, but one of my most fun times was flying an imperial eagle in a combat zone, hearing "Incoming missile" FA off flipping, and flying backwards while shooting at them, with my shields down after a rail gun hit just before the missile warning.

Was intense, managed to shoot down all three missiles, and super cruise out of there.

I just used target ahead though, so removing the highest threat thing would be totally spot on! it's really annoying, as missiles are... never the highest threat to me honestly.

Not in a Cobra. But I do agree, it is very frustrating, especially if you have a point defence fitted. There should be a default setting, that tells the ship, 'the PD has got them, so ignore and move on'.

Some method of filtering and prioritising what counts as a threat would be very helpful.
 
Yes please. Targeting missiles makes the closest hostile button almost useless in CZs, especially now that sensors can be modded for long range.

Making it either a toggleable option or providing a separate button to target non-ship threats would be a huge improvement.

Yes. Missiles, mines, and torpedoes can be shot down.

Targeting them is completely useless.

Not if you are in a slow ship, have a seeker launcher and are facing someone with cascade torpedoes.

Despite the description screening shell is not particularly useful for shooting down missiles...doesn't mean other weapons aren't.

Back in the good old days and old elites we did had another key dedicated to specifically target missiles. I don't mind if we can have this in the 4th incarnation.
 
Weird...I've never targeted a missile when pressing the next hostile target button on my HOTAS. Even in the thickest CZs. Am I the victim of a fortunate bug?
 
I am really sick of targetting Missiles while a NPC slightly further away is tearing my shields down. Have to hit "cycle through Targets" until I locked him instead, which is tedious.
