Newcomer / Intro Illegal Black Box Salvage Operations - consequences of being scanned near a station?

So I'm trying to help out a faction by increasing their influence, but they're one of those ones which tend to offer illegal missions, particularly illegal black box salvage operations. Does anyone know what is likely to happen when one is scanned while carrying an illegal black box near a station? Is it a fine or a bounty? If it's a fine, I can deal with it as a cost of doing business, since I'm doing it for cause and not for the money. But if it's a bounty, then getting shot at is too risk and I'm gonna have to take other missions in order to increase the faction's influence.

Any knowledge on this would be welcomed.

Not a clue to be honest.

You could reduce the risk by treating the return like a smuggling mission and get inside the station too fast for a scan to complete.

Usually getting scanned with illegal cargo is a fine.

I have not tested it explicitly with a blackbox, however.

It's probably the same, but...

Let us know :)

AFAIK, bounties are for murder. Fines are for everything else.
Find a restricted surface installation and land inside the security perimeter. Stay there for a minute or so. I'd recommend Barcelo Penal Colony in Epsilon Indi for added fun, but any surface installation with a security perimeter will do.

I'd suggest that you
a) use either a fast or a well shielded ship. Besides the base guns there usually will be one or two NPC combat vessels joining the fun.
b) bookmark a suitable interstellar factor. You might want to pay off the bounty the easy way.

I have no need or desire to do any of that.
You could have just stated: Trespassing on a restricted installation for a minute or two will result in a bounty :)

Occupational hazard, not intended against you :). People sometimes doubt what I'm telling them, so I try to pre-emptively deliver an experiment they can do for themselves.

This is one of those scenarios in which a cheap little Sidewinder would be a useful ship to test this kind of thing. I really regret trading in my very first ship now.
