Hey there!
So I've been playing a little more recently, and overall I'm having a great time. But I'm finding that the mission goals for bounty hunting / faction progression are creating illogical conflict.
It would seem that >80% of the time, the goals given to me by the Federation factions in the system I frequent almost always result in me necessarily incurring a bounty with other Federation aligned factions in neighbouring Federation controlled systems.
It seems a rather artificial means of creating risk. Last night, I did my progression missions and a few bounty hunting / assassination missions on behalf of Federation factions and ended up with a total bounty on my head in excess of 200,000.
None of these missions took me to systems outside of Federation control.
Now okay, I understand that up until recently, if played safely, Elite Dangerous hasn't been very, well, Dangerous, but making me kill Federation aligned targets in order to advance my Federation rank, thus forcing me to incur an ever-increasing bounty on my head is utterly barmy.
Sure, I could ignore missions and go back to farming combat zones and resource extraction sites, but it doesn't take away from the fact that this gameplay mechanism seems to be slightly wonky at best.
