Newcomer / Intro I'm a Kickstarter backer, hardly ever played - now I want to switch to Steam

I backed the original ED Kickstarter and got the "all seasons" pass. I've been playing occasionally via the Elite Dangerous launcher.

I want to try playing the game via Nvidia's cloud gaming service, but for that I need to somehow connect my ED/Frontier Developments account with Steam.

How do I do that? I want to make ED a game visible in my Steam account. If I do that, does it mean I can no longer launch the game via the ED Launcher?
