Im about to buy EVERYTHING and need some advice

Hello everyone firstly let me apologise if this is a common question, I did search but as this is my first post I was having some issues.
So anyways moving on. I am about to venture into the world of Elite and from all the digging around I have done over the past week I'm very excited about the prospect. I have been saving up for a while now and I'm now ready to purchase a new Samsung TV (the dogs spec) an Xbox One and from what I have recently found out an Elite controller. (DROOLS) So my question is, is it worth me also purchasing Kinnect. What does it add to the game? And just so you know I am already a bit of a kinnect fan (I enjoy using it with media on my 360) I so want it to be great so I'm considering it anyway, but is it useful for ED. I'm aware of PC players being able to use it for motion tracking??? Any help on this subject will be much appreciated :D.

Really!? wow that has really surprised me I would have thought the Elite and Kinect would have, could have worked wonders with each other that's disappointing...why would it not even have voice commands? seems strange but thank you for your help .... I presume you already are a PC gamer? ... or both?

For the elite controller, you can only remap the controller button inputs to other buttons.
I love my elite controller but the only thing I've remapped is the throttle controls to the lower paddles

Be careful when it comes to screens from samsung, though they probably can have fixed the issue, and for some it isn't something that annoys, when I had one, blacks would smear, because of the way their tech works, causing games with very dark blacks like Elite to smear the black some ward much to my frustration, can be fixed, but I highly recommend you actually see a demo of very dark scene's on the tv you are getting and pay attention to if movements over the black causes smears.
That said other then that issue it was a great TV.

Samsung would have always of been my TV of choice (for hundreds of reasons your aware of) but now you have mentioned about the blacks I will look into it a bit further, unfortunately this set will be my TV in the living room also, until such times I move house with a spare room!!! So although I can appreciate how awesome Elite is going to be I'm sorry to say Albert Square and Xfactor are still the two winning factions in my Universe :( :(
Thanks for the heads up :D

I can not verify this, but I have read articles that claim that the Kinect uses quite a bit of resources. There are many that question how much Elite is pushing the XB1 as it is. If these things have even some truth then it seems likely that Frontier skipped on using the Kinect to better allocate the XB1's resources.

And no I'm not a PC gamer, my recommendation comes from actual experience with Elite on XB1 and genuine disappointment from waiting over 4 months for bug fixes to the current build.

That would seem to make sense and still a shame perhaps a game like Elite could have help save it. I hear your advise regarding 'not going there in the first place' and I appreciate it but the I need a new TV anyway and I have also been looking forward to getting a Xbone for various other reasons ...as you do :D
Hopefully some of the major bugs will soon be fixed.

If you haven't bought an Xbox already just to play elite dangerous then forgive me for saying that you should consider buying into a PC and HOTAS. the updates and patches flow much quicker and smoother on the PC platform and from what I understand there are far less bugs.

Perhaps its not the must buy for Elite as I thought .....I do love the look of it though. And I believe it does help with game play?

Dont be put off getting Elite Dangerous on the XB1. It is now where near as bugged as a very small minority here would have you believe.
Th PC version has it's issues also.
I have had my Elite controller just over a day & you would already have to pry it out of my dead cold hands. I like it that much.

Personally I prefer to play my games on a couch with a 55" tv and a nice home theater, not hunched over a keyboard. I'll never go back to pc for gaming. Besides this isn't the 1st xbox or 360. Consoles look great now days. I see things everyday in Elite on X1 that make me ooh and ahh.

Elite plays and looks really nice on xbox. Don't be afraid to move forward with your original plan.

Thank you very much I like your answer :) Just a pity about kinect I was looking for an excuse to buy it but its fading fast.
See you out there.

I believe this is correct. The Kinnect utilises the GPU for a lot of its functionality and cannot, therefore, be used to any depth in games like ED which use computationally intensive rendering.

As to whether to go fox XB1 or PC? Before the release of V1.5 I would have said XB1, but that release was a bug-ridden mess, the worst problems of which (like BB missions) have had only work-around patches applied.

And when ED newsletter after ED newsletter is published, month after month, filled with Horizons stories and without the XB1 getting a single mention, you kind of get the feeling that the XB1 version is going to be left to die on the vine.

Now, this may not be true, but with so many XB1 users complaining about the lack of fixes, or even news of fixes (apart from the ubiquitous "soon", which we have been hearing since February), you'd think they'd, at least, chuck us a bone or two.

So, in short, unless you have a lot of game time and investment under your belt on the XB1 version, I'd ditch it and go PC.

Hell, I'm nearly Elite, and have about 300 million, and I'm considering going PC....

My TV preference is LG. When you see an LG alongside a Samsung, the colours look so much more natural.

thanks for your response certainly food for thought.....however im pretty committed to the xbox one.

see you out there :D

Xbox one just requires patience is all, that and given the auxiliary reasons you seem to have for wanting an Xbox, it'll be alright to play Elite dangerous on. Just don't get caught up on horizons and you'll be fine.

You can do voice commands on the PC with additional sofware. I often feel bad posting on the xBox forum. I know there are differences between PC and xBox but I'm surprised by how long the conversion of Horizons is taking. They are essentially all MS OS's.

If you like your gadgetry then you might want to consider a Rift or Vive as well as a top end PC rather than a big monitor/TV. Alas the Rift is a no go for me due to IPD and I can't get accurate info on the Vive to say it'd be worth ordering. From what I've read on the VR forum in here I really really want one though!

Don't forget you get free titles with Xbox live gold account, that means free games like thief yes while not new they are normally good games which means you can have something to play while awaiting the next AAA title to come out. Also they do some discounts on some titles so while it's not upto the high end spec you can get with the PC master race it's still a fairly good purchase
