I'm an Imperial Earl with an invitation to Achenar and Facece; Now What?!?

Hello Commanders! This is not meant to be a sarcastic question...

I last played at Christmas Break (Yes, December 2014), which I specifically took to build up reputation and rank within the Empire.

Now I've returned to find:
  • I still have my 'Earl' rank.
  • I am now 'Allied' with most Empire Factions (I was only 'Friendly' when I left)
  • I have now about 3 or 4 extra 'System Passes' that I don't remember having. (Including Achenar, which I *KNOW* I did not have when I left).
  • There seems to be random 'Civil Wars' happening in Empire space.
  • I can't find Imperial Slaves anymore

And lastly....
  • I can't find really a concise 'Catchup' of the last 5 months of Galaxy Updates.

Plus, I see all kinds of new stuff about community goals and new training videos, Wings, and about 4 or 5 new ships. (Yay!)

I have kept up with the weekly newsletters, and I'm finally glad to be back into game, but don't really see any way to get all caught up with in-game lore and 'control of the universe' type stuff.

On my own, I spent the day exploring every station at Facece and Achenar, but not really finding anything.... compelling. In fact, no really different Bulletin Board missions or Shipyard availability (I find it Ironic that I can't find an Imperial Cutter for sale in the Capital systems. Not that I could afford one, actually. :/)

I've just now spent a few hours in the Forums trying to get caught up (but I'm seeing some of the same discussions) and not finding anything specific to the Federation/Empire/Independent struggle history to date!

Anyone have any suggestions on how to catch up on 'current events'? Or should I just try to chase the latest 'Community Goals' and try to find some friends for 'Wings'?

Thanks, and apologize for the ignorance. 6 months is a lot to catch up on.

Snuggie...

one of the patches that came out since you last logged in was to ensure players received the permits they should have received at various ranks within the affiliation. So, you NOT getting the permits back in Dec. was a bug.

Community Goals was an addition with the 1.1 update. Check out the sticky thread regarding them to see what is going on. In Imperial Space, at Persephone, there is a cargo (medicine) collection goal. As you contribute, your end reward grows along with the community goal tier reached.

There is another in Fed space at Ross 460 (I believe), but I have no details on that one.

Lots more changes are due in the 1.3 update. The beta for that is set to be released on Tuesday, so within a few more weeks, there will be more changes to the game.

HTH

Thanks for that.

The 'bug fix' must have affected the 'Reputation' with Factions as well. I kept notes regarding the very single faction-specific missions i completed, and I achieved 'Friendly' in days, but never 'Allied', and then I made 'Allied' with the Faction, but not with the Empire...

Logging off for a few months now I'm automatically 'Allied' with several Factions (Some of which I've never even run missions for).

So good stuff with the reputation.

I'm going to research the other things you mentioned. Thanks for the patience and direction!

Welcome back. Hopefully 1.3 will be more compelling for "our" kind. :)

Agreed!

Upon reaching the 'core of the Empire', was hoping for the availability of 'Loyalty Missions' and possibly some 'Dangerous' (Snicker) assignments to be able to earn allegiance, ships and rank. But I think I've already reached the end of the progression ladder. :(

To be fair, I thought the Empire would be the 'Red Headed Step Children' of the universe, which meant lots of territory expansion and protection (Plus the ships are just too damn cool).

But I'm not quite finding it to be that way.... Yet...

If you are 'Allied' with the Empire, then you are 'Allied' with all minor Empire affiliated factions, too... though your reputation with that faction may be non-existent. That does make it hard to see where you are as far as progression is concerned since you have to improve your standing with minor factions to gain more rank in the major faction.

Now you support Lady Kahina Tijani Loren.

Huh?

I seemed to remember news flashes about the emperor being sick, ill, or rumored to be assasinated or something, and some cousin was in 'Emergency Power'.

So I was kinda expecting an 'Undiscovered Country' type coup-de-tat or something...

I'm gonna go look up Lady Loren now. Thanks for the info!

The Emperor Himself tried to marry the mother of Arissa Lavigny-Duval in order to secure succession, but he got ill fast, and never made it. That makes the case quite clear, what the Emperor wants, is not something that should be debated. We should bask in the light of His decissions!

Edit: To clarify, Hengist Duval is the father, and Florence Lavigny is the mother of Arissa Lavigny-Duval, the succession would be automatic if they had married, but there was never time. Harold who would normally follow his father, was declared most unfit for the task.

Like Broke says, Kahina's the personn to follow. She hasn't anounced that she is trying for the throne yet though.

The "heirs" that are in the race for the big chair are a mix of fakes, puppets and animals :p
Daeron is right in saying that the Emperor's will was for Arissa to secure succession. But as things stand, if she does get to be Emperess, we all know the real person in charge will be chancelor Blaine.

Here, in the link of the first post of this thread, there is info about the different characters. I don't know how much you know, hope it's usefull.

Lady Kahina might for the time being, be seen merely as a distraction, if we consider the matter of succession vital for the stability and security of the Empire.

She will have to make a stand sooner or later though, for nothing operates in a vacuum. Well, spaceships maybe. But that was not the point! To secure the succession, is to secure the Empire as it stands. For every moment of turmoil, weakens it! We have many vultures out there, waiting to feast on the wounded beast. This is why the matter of leadership must be dealt with, sooner rather than later. So these "games for the throne", can be channeled into something more useful. Like more worlds to conquer, and other uplifting activities! Like in the good old days, they suddenly seem so far away...
