I'm an outlier, as I prefer gamepad controller over K&M

ED on PC doesn't support the gyroscope (headlook) or the trackpad on DS4, nor does it differentiate between short and long press for button modifiers. It also doesn't show me the PS4 symbols, but rather the generic [Joy 14 Button] descriptors, unless I enable the extra Steam support, which makes ED think my DS4 is an XBox controller, thus displaying all sorts of strange glyphs not on my DS4.

I can understand the lack of trackpad and gyroscope support but long press for modifiers is strange. I am 100% sure it works on the Xbox controller, so I see no reason why they shouldn't support it.

The thing I miss the most is gyroscopic headlook, which is absolutely sublime. The other things I've been able to replace with K&M. Still, I'd love to have full native support for DS4 built into ED. My other cross-platform games (except Skyrim) recognize my DS4 for what it is, so I don't understand why ED doesn't.

Just to double check, can you confirm there is no 'Default Context' and 'Classic Context' preset in options?

The thought of playing Dark Souls with a keyboard and mouse makes my soul yearn for the sun.
I tried that.. once. Never again. KB+M is my go-to for FPS because that's how I grow up with it, but for most 3rd person action games, beat'em ups and even platformers, the gamepad is just superior. Oh and JRPGs, because PS2 muscle memory :D

Outlier? Are you though? I've played AAA games where the developer didn't have an g clue how mouse and keyboard is used for playing games (Dragon Age Inquisition e.g.)

You'll love the Steam Controller then. It basically had the game read inputs as mouse and keyboard inputs. This includes its gyroscope.

After so many years using KB+M I can't use controllers. My hands and arms feel cramped, the stupid little toggles make aiming impossible, no matter the sensitivity I use.
No comfort at all.

I've been a console player most of the time, so to me it entirely depends on the title.

Strategy games, Elite (VR even) and World of Warships I'm playing with KB+M. Open world/action games I'm playing with controller (Actually with my 12-year old PS3 Dualshock). Both have their advantages and disadvantages I think - one of the big plus of controller is playing from the couch. :)
